Clinical-Epidemiological Investigation of Kumri in goat-Banke-District-Nepal-: 2063
Dr.Kedar Karki
Objective of Investigation:
To ascertain the cause of syndrome. Detection of microfilaria from clinical case. To evaluate the change in hematological parameter of clinical case. To evaluate the effectiveness of Diethylcarbamazin in treatment of Kumri
Methodology
Clinical-epidemiological observation. Treatment of affected flock. Morning blood collection in EDTA. Estimation of TLC,DLC,TEC ,Hb,PCV.
Background
Goats above twelve months of age mostly affected. Typical clinical signs in affected goats were paralysis of one or both fore/ hind limbs, paralysis of Lumber region In -coordination and swaying back gait.

Result and Discussion
Presence of microfilaria in 60% of blood sample. Positive response to treatment. (Mukhopadhay.S et.al 1996) Hematological finding: ANAEMIA. EOSINOPHILIA. NEUTROPHILIA. LYMPHOCYTOSIS. DECEASE IN TOTAL R.B.C. COUNT. DECEASE IN TOTAL W.B.C. COUNT. (David E. Anderson 2002)
Recommendation
Seasonal Pattern of occurrence of posterior paralytic symptom is caused by cerebrospinal nematode Seteria spp, Prevalence of disease occur when mosquito vectors are active. Can be treated and prevented by using Diethylcarbamazin. (P. Ghalsasi et.al 7th international Conference on goats, France may 2000 Use of ivermectine is contraindicated during microfilaraemia stage ( Michel Boussinesq et.al Filarial journal 2003)
