Advent case analysis 1) -The company entered business with audio devices but the initial strategy of the firm was to work in television,especially to create an organization which would support the research and development and marketing of large screen television systems. -In the market Advent� strategy was seeking the specialized areas of audio market s where there is no competition with the industry giants. Making the most efficient equipment at the lowest possible price was their objective. -Advent� marketing strategy was day to day functional basis. Emphasis on s � continually optimizing its position� rather than responding to a long range plan had placed substantial importance upon production efficiency and rapid response to daily marketing problems. -For product development Advent� strategy can be thought as organic style, letting each s product stand on its own, do not sit down and decide to manufacture a line of speakers or amplifiers or tape recorders. 2) -Advent Company was at the field of electronic industry where competition with the industry giants was minimum. They had the technical skill to integrate advanced technologies and also the superiority of the products that Advent has, was the strength of the firm. For example using Dolby System for noise reduction and also the use of Du pond� chromium oxide innovation brings power to the company in the market. s -But the products that advent entertains to the market were quite new to the customers. Therefore there was inherent difficulty of depending on a dealer organization to push Advent products that incorporated sophisticated innovations, features that had to be understood by the customer before he made the logical choice of an Advent product. -For large screen television marketing and distribution, because it is a new kind of product it will need technicians for the first installation, and this will bring some troubles with the sales personnel. -The company is growing rapidly so one of the weaknesses that company has is the managerial problems. 3) -To use Dolby Systems for noise reduction units is one of the primary technological competencies of the firm. -To use Du pond� chromium oxide bands for audio is another competency of the firm. s -Also for large screen televisions not miniaturization but maybe maximization is the competency of this electronic firm. 4)-Advent has the competency in audio products so in my point of view they have to concentrate more on this issue. Expanding with large screen television sets can be unsatisfactory because of the increased managerial problems. -Mr.Closs shows extra effort to become a brand name also in video market but embarking this idea can lower their market segment in audio products. First of all if they see profit in television sector, they have to take strategic decisions on management. Restructuring the organization into the necessary departments must be done. -Also because large screen television sets are so new to customers they have to show extra effort on marketing and promotion activities. In this way they can construct and increase the demand for the large screen televisions.
