A Definition of Organizational Behavior The first thing that comes to mind when I hear this word is organized behavior of individuals within an organization I then immediately think of Organizational . Behavior at first as knowing the process in which we as individuals act in organizations as a group. We must know the process, to be able to act upon it and improve our organizations effectiveness. Organizational behavior obviously deciphers how we as people act in organization relationships. This can put us in the category of one large group, a whole organization, one large corporation, or simply one whole person. Organizational behavior is meant to help all organizational stakeholders to better understand the organization in which they work in and to help them work more effectively in them. I feel as if the sole purpose of organizational behavior is to simply build better relationships within an organization. In return, the organization will operate more smoothly, and be more productive. To achieve better relationships within an organization, there are a lot of objectives that come into play. For starters, human and personal objectives need to be met. Workers will more than likely perform better when they are happy. Whats considered ideal is when jobs and working conditions are excellent for both the employees and the organization. This can lead to individual satisfaction, better employee performance for the organization, and personal growth and satisfaction. Next, social objectives need to be met. Social systems include all human relationships and their relationships to the outside world. This social system exchanges ideas, culture, goods, and etc. with everyone in it. Culture is the main factor that influences our behavior and sometimes it puts the fear of instability into our thoughts. In turn, the behavior of one member can have an impact on several others. If handled wrong, this can create rebellion, isolation, and conformity. When social objectives are met, organizations will help people to challenge and experiment our culture while still maintaining that bind in social society. Lastly, organizational objectives also need to be met. A lot of this will rest upon managements shoulders, since they determine the goals, values, and philosophy of the organization. How management leads the organization will also drive its culture. This culture will determine the type of leadership, communication, and group dynamics within the organization. Being that the organizations base starts with management, organizational objectives need to be met to have a stable foundation for the organization. Organizational behavior can cover a wide range of areas. This is something that has to be developed and studied over time to bring about a planned change. This can be accomplished by changing values, behaviors, attitudes, strategies, procedures, and etc. If organizational behavior is studied correctly, it will bring about productivity, adaptability, effectiveness, and higher quality of work. This will be nonetheless a very helpful ingredient to a more productive organization as a whole.
