Temptation
I don’t know about you, but I definitely stare temptation of some sort in the eye, everyday of my life.
Sometimes it’s the temptation of throwing a piece of paper out the car window. Or how about this one:
Sometimes it will come in the form of a little white lie. You feel tempted not to tell the truth about
something. You know why so many people are in a mess today? It boils down to, not living in
unconditional love all the time. We talk about temptation today. Temptation is one of the key areas in our
life where we need to be strong in, not allowing our selves to fall for temptation. Temptation will open
doors that will cause our lives to be in a mess. Sooner or later you are going to reap the consequences of
your actions. We need to be wiser regarding temptation.

We need to be able to acknowledge temptation when it comes our way. Here are some temptations that
might help u.

Tempted to through paper out the car window or dropping it while you walk in the street?
Tempted to tell a lie in order to win you time or to tell a lie to protect some else?
Tempted to watch pornography?
Tempted to steal? It is considered stealing when you don’t ask for stuff that does not belong to you. Like
your company’s stationary, or driving a detour for personal reasons with the company car, coming late for
work is also a form of stealing.
Tempted to gain something from someone because that person has a lack of knowledge?
Tempted to think the wrong thoughts? (Like “I’m going to kill you, or I’m going to kill myself, or I hate
you, or I wish you were dead”) Any thought that does not a line with the Word of God, is wrong thinking.

When we acknowledge the temptation before we follow through, and deal with the temptation according to
biblical principles, we put ourselves in a more accurate position to live an abundant life. Many times when
we follow through with a temptation, we only reap the consequence of our doings much later. Only when
we are in the middle of the mess, we become fed up with the consequences and only then we want to find
solutions for it. Most of the time when facing a problem; that problem originated from something we didn’t
do in a biblical manner.
Let us use the example of a (temptation to lie to protect someone). After you have lied to protect someone,
not only will that darkness you created come to light and have their own consequences, but there might
form in some other areas of your life also consequences because of that lie. A relationship witch had
nothing to do with your original lie, might be broken because they heard about your lie, and that person
won’t trust you any more. That “broken up relationship” supported you in a specific area of your life. Now
that support is gone and because of that, new consequences arrive. This may sound very far fetched but it is
the truth. These things happen to many of us everyday and we wonder why we experience so many
problems.

Become wise, everything you do has an influence on your life. Even the things that you don’t know you’re
doing influence your life. The Word says, “What you sow is what you will reap.” & “Guard your heart, for
out your heart flow the issues of life”
Do not let temptation be one of the reasons you experience problems and difficulty in your life.
I include scripture from the Word of God for you to be able to deal with temptation.

Psalm 138:2-3
2I will bow down toward your holy temple, and give thanks to your Name for your loving

Kindness and for your truth; for you have exalted your Name and your Word above all.
3In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.

What the Word says is that: When you do the things according to the Word, always draw near the Holy
Spirit and Praise God for what you have… Then He will give you strength to deal with temptation or any
other bad habit your soul (flesh) cries for.
Psalm 143:10-11
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of
uprightness. 11Revive me, Yahweh, for your name’s sake. In your righteousness, bring my soul
out of trouble.

Mark 14:38
Watch and pray: that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is
weak.”

Romans 12:21
Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the
crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

James 4:7
Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw near to God and he
will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
