We have developed projects for learners of all ages which are delivered at our own study support centre, in local schools and libraries. CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB Inspiring Learning Through Football Chelsea FC’s local library projects Similarities with the aims of FTP projects: - • Dismantle barriers and change perceptions of both libraries and the Football Club • Recognise cultural diversity and deliver projects which are relevant to our community • Be dynamic in delivering and marketing to young people • Engage in creative and innovative projects • Involve and empower young people CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB Inspiring Learning Through Football Focus on local library projects this season We have worked on several initiatives in local libraries this season, as well as the Premier League Reading Stars scheme • Black History Month 2006 250 pupils in Westminster Libraries CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB Inspiring Learning Through Football Focus on local library projects this season As well as one-off story-telling events, poetry writing (‘football rap’) and art workshops, we recently ran a six-week after school study support project with the Chelsea library • Nov-Dec 2006 Family learning Football-themed books and weekly activities. Parent/carer opportunity to learn with their child. Chelsea FC education officers worked with the children’s librarian. Author visit/celebration event. CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB Inspiring Learning Through Football Focus on local library projects this season The added bonus of the involvement of a local football club in a library partnership can be illustrated in the ‘Love football, love libraries’ animation film, which was made by talented 11 year old pupils from the local Servite school. • Short animation clip to illustrate the message that these young people wish to share with their peers.
