These labels can be found in the Template Gallery by selecting the LABEL icon on your hit list. Logos can be uploaded into the program via the Setup screen. Select the Blue Setup Icon (looks like a spanner) from the top right hand side of the screen. A window will appear. Select LOGO SETTINGS and then select the “Browse” button alongside the “Upload Logo” caption. New Report Generator Fields The Report Generator module inside the Manifest allows the user to export store and material data in a number of different text delimited formats, including Excel files. Each release, extra fields are added to the Report Generator, so keep a look out inside each category for changes. In this release we have expanded the list of available output languages, and have added new fields in both the Safety and Properties sections. Mini MSDS Mouse Over Captions The Health Hazard and Safe Storage sections of the Mini MSDS now contain rollover mouse captions. They explain the meaning of the various symbols on the report. Just move your mouse over the symbol in question and relevant explanations will appear! DO WE HAVE ALL YOUR PRODUCTS ON THE CHEMWATCH SYSTEM??? To provide you with the most up to date and efficient management of your chemicals - thus ensuring you meet your legal obligations - you need to make sure you have provided us with a complete list of all your products, together with any new ones which need to be added to the data base. Please make sure that you have sent us a listing of all your chemicals for registration, and we will then ensure that any changes are noted and your MSDS are kept up to date. Help us to help you meet your legal requirements! If you have any queries, please contact our Customer Relations Manager Peta Reeve on (03) 9572 4700 or email to: peta@chemwatch.net Galleria Chemica Galleria Chemica’s colossal database continues to grow as the Galleria application is consistently transformed to provide a more intuitive, and easier tool to manage your chemical inventory. From regulatory compliance to risk assessment and general chemicals management, Galleria Chemica has all of the answers. We are also very pleased to announce the addition of the GCAE (Galleria Chemica Alerts Engine) to all of our currently registered clients. On a weekly basis, GCAE will scan the database looking for additions, omissions, and general changes to chemical regulatory data. The culmination of this scan produces a report for each of our clients, outlining the products on their register that are affected by these changes. Not only does Chemwatch provide all the chemical information you need, but through GCAE we have a powerful tool in which to provide a complete managed service. Galleria Chemica’s main application is constantly being refined in order to make using it even easier than before. New country filters provide a simplistic way of filtering data based on the jurisdiction of laws. We have also added a powerful second search function with Galleria which scans millions of chemical synonyms, trade names and parts numbers to find the chemical you want. Most importantly all of this is done in a jiffy with the use on newer more powerful indexing and search algorithms. What’s new in author(IT)e? Our dedicated team have been working feverishly since our last newsletter to embellish our authoring software and make the changes that our users have requested. Improvements made include: Version Number Disclosure Notification European (Annex 1) Risk Codes Addition of Ingredient by Chemwatch Number Domestic Use Units of Measurement Version Number All materials saved will now display a Version Number. This number will be incremented by 1 each time the material is saved over the period of a week – from Monday to Sunday. For example, if Material X is created on Tuesday but then it is edited 3 times in the next 2 days, the Version Number will remain at ‘Version 1’. If the same material is edited a further 2 times the following Monday, the Version Number will be incremented to ‘Version 2’. The Version Number appears at the top of the User Interface – circled in red. Disclosure Notification When utilizing either of the Disclosure options on the Ingredients page – Minimum or Limited – the activation of each is displayed on the MSDS Expert page as either ‘Lim. Disc.’ or ‘Min. Disc.’ European (Annex 1) Risk Codes Any relevant Risk Codes from the European Annex 1 list, will appear in their own separate display on the Risks page, labelled ‘EC’. They will also be incorporated into the overall list of Generated Risks on the same page – these will appear in green coloured text. Chemwatch 2007 Issue 1 New Developments cont. What’s new in author(IT)e? cont. Addition of Ingredient by Chemwatch Number It is now possible to enter ingredients by searching for them by Chemwatch Number. On the Ingredients page, when you begin typing in the name, a search screen appears with the added option of a ‘CW Search’. Clicking on this opens an additional search window in which the user can enter a known CW Number, and add this to the Ingredients in the usual manner. The following are some of the new database additions to Galleria Chemica in the past quarter. You can contact us at Chemwatch if you wish to see the entire list. News from North America Greetings from North America during the Holiday Season! As we celebrate both the season and the end of our year, we wish all of you - clients, friends, and so many of both! – the best of peace, love and health into the coming year and beyond. It was a fascinating quarter as we completed the sales and installations of some of our most interesting and challenging applications. Perhaps leading the list in both the breadth of use and some new delivery technology, is our recent order from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Geoff Huse led the team who administered this purchase and installation. Thanks Geoff, and we look forward to serving Pfizer in the coming years. Joe Sheehan completed both an order, and one of the most distant deliveries in our ChemwatchNA history, with a sale to Raytheon Polar Services. Jim Wood recently helped Kurt Smith at Palmer station in Antarctica with their Chemwatch installation. Kurt said the disks arrived by ship in time for the summer season. In addition to use in the Antarctica, Joe worked with Bob Kluckhohn of Raytheon Polar Services to install it at their headquarters in the US, and several research and transport vessels. Thanks very much Bob for your confidence and your order. Chemwatch North America welcomes Kraft Foods as the latest client using the Chemwatch MSDS authoring system called Author(IT)e. Jim Wood had the pleasure of visiting one of their Chicago facilities for a multiple site training session in early December. As a former chemistry professor, our good Dr. Wood immersed himself into studying flavoring components to prepare his training examples, and word is that MSDS’s are flowing freely. Good luck and happy holidays to all our friends at Kraft Foods. Rounding out our end of the year, we were delighted to add Chevron Phillips (Houston) to the Chemwatch family. Dr. Bill Utley asked us for a Chemwatch introduction to his new colleagues, and we are proud and happy that they liked Chemwatch and Galleria Chemica. We will get to Houston soon to provide some training. We are finalizing our 2007 marketing plan at the moment, but included in our travels the first quarter will be an exhibition at the Pittcon Conference in Chicago at the end of February, and SOCMA in Baltimore in early March. Jim Wood will be there to show our authoring system Author(IT)e to all of the chemical/biochem companies who need to produce low cost, multi-lingual and global MSDS’s for their products. Whether you need a Japanese GHS or Russian ILO format, Chemwatch authoring will amaze you – it is so comprehensive and completely self contained. Author(IT)e includes Above left: Ross Grayson of the University of California Riverside, visits with Paul at the College show in Anaheim California. Above right: Joe Sheehan hosts a visitor to the CSHEMA booth in August. all regulations, ingredient information, toxicology and global formats and languages!
