11.0 DRINKING WATER WATCH Drinking Water Watch (DWW) was originally delivered as a method to allow the public access via the Internet to drinking water information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). A drinking water primacy agency may deploy Drinking Water Watch inside or outside of its electronic firewall protection, so access to this application entirely depends on the environment in which it is deployed. The URL invoked via the link from the SDWIS/STATE Home Page may be implemented to access an instance of DWW deployed on the Internet or an internal instance of DWW deployed on the intranet. The decision to as to whom to make available the DWW web pages lies with the System Administrator. During installation of the SDWIS/STATE application, the installer will be prompted for the DWW URL to be launched from the SDWIS/STATE Home Page. During installation, the user will need to set the two-character state code and state name in the properties file. (Instructions for this will be in the Release Notes.) After the user performs these settings, the user‘s state‘s name will appear on the link ―Click here for the County Map of _____‖ on the Home Page, and the user will be able to retrieve the state map and use it as search criteria. Appendix G contains the detailed SQL queries that support each web page. DWW 2.0 will be changed to use a JDBC database connection, replacing the prior implementations use of ODBC. (R0131:A.11.0.a) 11.1 Terminology This document contains the new term ―Navigations‖ when describing the pages. The term navigations refers to data on the page which users may click to present another page. This is similar to a double-click of a list item in the SDWIS/STATE application. Other terms, which may be familiar, are: Buttons Entry Fields Refers to objects that appear as push buttons on the page Refers to objects in which data may be entered.
11.2 Drinking Water Watch Page Flow The following pages and exhibits describe/document the forward flow of the links in Drinking Water Watch 1.2. Exhibit 11-1 depicts the Public Water Supply Systems Search Parameters page.

Exhibit 11-1. Public Water Supply Systems Search Entry Fields: Water System No. The specific Water System No., which consists of the two-character state code plus the sevencharacter number field. The Water System No. field can accept partial strings (e.g., ‗IN1‘ will list all the water systems starting with the Water System No.‘s ‗IN1‘). The Name of the Water System, which is an alphanumeric field. The Water System Name field can accept partial strings (e.g., ‗a‘ will list all the water systems starting with the letter ‗a‘). A dropdown list showing the county principally served by the public water system. This field will display values in the SDWIS/STATE‘s Geographic Area table (TINGEOAR) where field Type Code = CN. A dropdown list showing the type of water system serving a particular county. Water System types are classified as one of the following:

Community - Serves at least 15 service connections used by year-round residents or regularly serves 25 year-round residents. Non-Transient Non-Community – Serves at least the same 25 non-residential individuals during 6 months of the year. Transient Non-Community – Regularly serves at least 25 non-residential individuals (transient) during 60 or more days a year.
Primary Source Water Type
A dropdown list categorizing the primary water source for the public water system. The source of water determines treatment requirements or other standards. Primary sources include the following: Groundwater under the Direct Influence (of surface water) Groundwater under the Direct Influence (of surface water), Purchased Water Groundwater Groundwater Purchased Surface Water Surface Water Purchased
Point of Contact Type
A dropdown list showing the types of contacts applying to the active Point-of Contact that, when selected, displays the address information (for the selected point of contact type) on the Water System List. Point-of Contact Types including the following: Administrative Emergency Contact Lead Engineer Operator Designated Op in Charge Financial Legal Owner Sampling All of the Above

Search for Water Systems Entering criteria in one or more of the six Public Water Supply systems Search Parameters presents the Water Systems page (Exhibit 11-2). If the user selects a Point of Contact Type, the Water Systems page will include an Address column with the address of the Administrative Point of Contact (type AC). Selecting a Point of Contact Type does not constrain the list of water systems presented; it just adds the Address column. Search for Samples Selecting a Sample Class presents an appropriate list: Coliform Samples – Coliform Sample Results List, Exhibit 11-20, listing samples/results whose Analyte Code is 3100, 3013, or 3014 and meet any other selection criteria. Coliform Samples Detection Only – Coliform Sample Results List, Exhibit 11-20, listing samples/ results whose Analyte Code is 3100, 3013, or 3014 and where Presence/Absence Indicator is P and meet any other selection criteria. (Exhibit 11-20 shows a mix of results with presence and absence; this selection would only return results showing ―P‖—no ―A‖ results would be included). Coliform Summaries – Coliform Sample Summaries Results List, Exhibit 11-21, listing sample summaries whose Analyte Code is 3100 and meet any other selection criteria. Lead and Copper Summaries – Lead and Copper Sample Summary Results List, Exhibit 11-22, listing sample summaries whose Analyte Code is PB90 or CU90 and meet any other selection criteria. Summarized Field Sample Results – Summarized Field Sample Results List, Exhibit 11-23, listing MDPB summaries that meet any other selection criteria. Non- Coliform Samples All – Non-Coliform Samples List, Exhibit 11-24, listing samples/results whose Analyte Code is not (3100, 3013, or 3014) and that meet any other selection criteria. Non- Coliform Samples by Analyte. – Analyte Selection List, Exhibit 11-25. This is the list of all non-Coliform analytes that are referenced by any non-Coliform sample result (excluding

Exhibit 11-8 (Sample Schedules) lists four different kinds of schedules for the water system: TCR Schedules - Open Total Coliform Rule sample schedules for the specified water system. Facility Analyte Field Sample Schedules - Open Facility Analyte schedules (TMNFANL) for the specified water system. Non- TCR Group Schedules - Open schedule groups that reference Analyte Group Codes for the specified water system. Note that you may see a schedule for Analyte 3100 listed in this list. If you do, while the name of the Analyte says ―Total Coliform Rule,‖ the schedule is actually for Analyte 3100 (Coliform) being monitored under the Groundwater Rule. Pressing the Analyte Group Code link displays the Analytes in Analyte Group page, Exhibit 11-16. Non- TCR Individual Schedules - Open individual schedules (those defined as not associated with a Schedule Group and that reference an Analyte Code, that is, they are not ―hidden‖ schedules). Note that you may see a schedule for Analyte 3100 listed as part of a non-TCR Analyte Group. If you do, while the name of the Analyte says ―Total Coliform Rule,‖ the schedule is actually for Analyte 3100 (Coliform) being monitored under the Groundwater Rule.
