Bryan Popkin The Evolution of Cell Phones
Technology is the face of the universe in this modern day. So many people have up-to-date technology everywhere one may go. New products by one company, companies that merge into to make one huge product, or any other new product that is different from the rest will be sold globally and it will be a popular buy because it is one step ahead of the game. Whether it’s a brand new computer model that comes out or a new cell phone; people always have it once it comes out and newer models adapt and evolve after, making technology a never ending factor of production in society. The evolution of cellular phones has evolved in huge ways throughout a small period of time. The cell phone was not invented but the idea was brought up about sixty years ago. The first successful and portable mobile phone was made in 1973 by Motorola. AT&T eventually created the first cellular network in 1978. From these dates to the end of the nineties, cellular phones were box-shaped phones about the size of a persons face, with large antennas a couple of inches in length. The phone can be plugged into the cigarette lighter plug to charge it in the car. The only feature a mobile phone had at this generation was to call another person. The next generation of mobile phones is high on the technology scale. They evolved much quicker than the last generation. Instead of several decades of the same idea or model, there is one decade of several different ideas and features being added to the mobile phone. At first, the next step was to have a screen to show the number being
dialed. The next step was to add color. Then a popular feature was text messaging, where one can send a text message to another phone very quickly. Soon after that, phones exploded and became invincible. Companies then started coming out with touch screen phones and phones with three mega-pixel cameras. Phones with internet connection are now a very popular feature in the business world. And now Apple Inc. even came out with a phone that, in some people’s opinion, is the best phone ever created. Several cellular networks have been created in the last decade although some are weak, the successful ones take over. Whether it’s a brand new computer model that comes out or a new cell phone; people always have it once it comes out and newer models adapt and evolve after, making technology a never ending factor of production in society. Cell phones have become one of the most needed possessions of the modern era. Without a cell phone today, one feels very out of place.
