					MISS SA, TANSEY COETZEE TO COMPETE IN MISS UNIVERSE IN VIETNAM Miss SA 2007, Tansey Coetzee will represent South Africa at the 57th Annual Miss Universe competition to be held at in the Crown Convention Centre at the renowned Diamond Bay Resort in Nha Trang, Vietnam on Sunday 13 July. Tansey departs on 17 June for a month of activities and sightseeing in Vietnam prior to the finals.

Contestants from more than 80 countries around the world will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2008. “I am very excited to participate in Miss Universe. It is a chance in a lifetime. If I win, many doors will open for me,” says Tansey Coetzee. “Not only do I get the wonderful opportunity to visit Vietnam, and to meet the other contestants from around the world, but the winner of Miss Universe 2008 also gets to star in the reality show “Pageant Place” which currently stars the current Miss Universe, Riyo Mori. Maybe I’ll get to live in the Trump Tower in New York and feature in the MTV show. All I can say is, wow!”

What began in 1952 as a local bathing beauty competition in Long Beach, California has since grown to be a Donald Trump organisation showcase that puts the spotlight directly on the world's most beautiful women.

Miss Universe major events to be held at the Crown Convention Centre are the final presentation show on 8 July, the dress rehearsal on 13 July and the live telecast on 13 July. Following the evening gown competition, judges pick the Top 10 who go on to show off their best assets in the traditional and very popular swimsuit competition, from which the Top 5 are chosen... culminating in the crowning of Miss Universe 2008.

Miss Universe is one of the world's most watched events. The 57th Annual Miss Universe Competition will air on NBC on Monday, 14 July, 2008.

Japanese native, Riyo Mori, Miss Universe 2007 will crown her successor at the conclusion of the telecast. During her reign, she travelled the world as an advocate for HIV/AIDS education, research, and legislation. The newly crowned Miss Universe will go on to do the same.
