                                       Walk-On Information
   We invite athletic, driven, competitive women to join the Rutgers Women’s Rowing
                             team. No experience is necessary.

What is Rutgers Women’s Rowing?
Women’s Rowing at Rutgers is a Division I, varsity sport. We compete in the Big East Conference and the
Eastern Sprints League. Numerous Rutgers athletes with no previous rowing experience have gone on to
win medals at these championships. Some have gone on to represent the United States in international com-

Who joins?
Women who understand the demands of competitive team sports such as swimming, soccer, track/cross
country, basketball, and volleyball. We encourage women who are 5’8 and taller to walk-on as rowers and
women less than 115 lbs. to join as coxswains. Coxswains steer the boats, call the race plan, and help run
the workouts. Even if you haven’t participated in organized athletics but fit these characteristics come join.

When is Practice?
Practices are in the afternoon. We work around your class schedule.

What can I do to prepare?
  Stay in shape!
  Have a copy of your Fall 2010 class schedule . Make sure it states your name and how many credits you
  are taking.
  Proof of a physical exam within 6 months of the start of classes. (You will need this to start practice.)
