Final Coaches Rowing Association National Poll
Boosted by its second-place finish in the First Varsity Eight Boat competition at the NCAA Championships,
Virginia was voted No. 2 nationally--trailing only national champion Stanford--in the final 2009 Col-
legiate Rowing Coaches Association poll. The Cavaliers were ranked 4th previously. The ranking was
Virginia’s highest-ever finish in the CRCA National Poll.
Clemson, which on April 20 of this year claimed its first-ever ACC Rowing Championship, fin-
ished the year ranked 12th. Earlier this year, the Tigers finished among the nation’s Top 10 for the first time in
history on April 29. Clemson claimed its highest national ranking that day in the Collegiate Rowing
Coaches Association national rowing poll with a 9th-place rating. That week two ACC teams were
ranked in the Top 11 for the first time, as Virginia was then rated 10th.
Stanford, which claimed the NCAA National Championship, took all 25 first place votes and 500
points. Virginia recorded its 29th consecutive week being ranked in the CRCA poll, The last time the Cavaliers
weren’t ranked was the May 16, 2006 poll, when UVa finished just outside of the nation’s Top 20 at No. 21.
Clemson’s ranking marked the 21th consecutive time the Tigers have appeared in the CRCA poll, a streak
which began with the pre-season poll for the 2008 season.

                ACC Rowing National Rankings
                                   CRCA Rowing National Rankings
Since 2002, Virginia leads all Atlantic Coast Conference schools with 66 appearances in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches
Association poll. That includes an appearance in the 2010 pre-season poll. The Cavaliers have appeared in 30 consecu-
tive polls, dating back to the final CRCA poll of 2006. The Cavaliers have actually made an appearance in 65 of 66
CRCA polls since 2002. Clemson is next with 24 appearances, including a current streak of 23 consecutive polls. Duke
is the only other ACC school to make an appearance in the CRCA national poll, having made six appearances, but none
since the 2005 season. No ACC team has been ranked No. 1 nationally, but Virginia has been ranked No. 2 on four oc-
casions including the final poll of last year (2009).
