124172-53-8 registered as a new substance in the spirit of chemical legislation sterically hindered amine Uvinul® 4050 H does not have any acute toxic effects applied orally or by inhalation in animal trials nor does it irritate the skin. Because of its high pH of 11 it irritates mucous membranes. The product is not sensitizing. Mutagenicity tests did not reveal genotoxic potential. The solubility in water of Uvinul® 4050 H is 13 g/l (25 °C [77 °F]). It does not show aquatic toxicity to fish. The toxicity to bacteria (EC/LC50 [17 h]) is 455 mg/l. The product is not readily biodegradable. No inhibition of degradation activity in activated sludge is to be anticipated when low contrations are introduced. Incineration is the preferred method of disposal. Analyses of representative standard samples have shown that the sum of the total content of these elements is less than 100 mg/kg and thus below the limits laid down in the EU packaging directive 94/62/EC and the American CONEG model. The requirements of the EU directive on end-of-life vehicles, 2000/53/EC, are met. On average, the total contents of technically unavoidable impurities are as follows:
