The LEA is certified by the California Integrated Waste Management Board to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within the County of San Bernardino, including all active and closed landfills. Big Bear Transfer Station Amendment Public Notice Page 2 Description of Project and LEA’s Preliminary Determination The Big Bear Transfer Station is located on the southwest portion of the Big Bear Sanitary Landfill site. The facility is surrounded by National Forest Land in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County. The site is approximately 2.5 miles from the City of Big Bear Lake and approximately 1.5 miles north of Baldwin Lake and Sate Highway 18. On November 17, 2009 the LEA received, from San Bernardino County, Solid Waste Management Division, a Solid Waste Facility Permit (SWFP) application package to allow for the collection of E-Waste and change the hazardous waste storage time. The LEA finds that the proposed change is consistent with all applicable certified and/or adopted CEQA documents, is consistent with State Minimum Standards, and does not conflict with the terms and conditions in the current solid waste facilities permit. The LEA approved the amendment on December 17, 2009.
