Position Title : Data Analyst/Programmer (Full-Time Contract Position)

Must be extremely skilled in SAS programming language, especially BASE and MACRO components. Ability
to synthesize co mplex or d iverse informat ion, collect and research data, document sources for statistical code
used fro m code bank or original reference, use intuition and experience to comp lement data, design work flows
and procedures. Candidates must be able to generate creative solution, translate concepts and informat ion into
image, use feedback to modify designs, apply design principle and demonstrate attention to detail. The ideal
candidate will be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information
skillfu lly, develop alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations and use reason even
when dealing with emotional topics. Must be able to write clearly and informatively, edit work for spelling and
grammar; vary writing style to meet needs , present numerical data effectively and have the ability to read and
interpret written info rmation. A strong ability to read, analy ze, and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulat ions as well as write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present informat ion and respond to questions
fro m healthcare researchers, government policy makers, and technical and non -technical staff and stakeholders.
The individual must be able to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Strong practical problem solving skills are required. High productivity, accuracy, thoroughness and
confidentiality are essential to meet the needs of the position.
University degree is essential; Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to PHRU’s mand ate (Biostatistics,
Ep idemio logy) preferred. Training in research methodology and/or biostatistics and/or a related population health or
health services research field preferred.
Minimu m two years related experience; applied experience using emp irical research methods; proficiency with
statistical methods; demonstrated competence in data analysis ; skilled at resolving technical and ethical issues
regarding the application of data to research questions; familiarity with linkable health and health care databases;
proven ability to work independently and as a team member; demonstrated project planning and coordinating skills
using considerable judgment, init iative and innovativeness in his/her decision -making; excellent analytical and
interpersonal skills; possess a general understanding of research methods, critical evaluation of research and
interpretation of results; proven ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy; proven ability to meet deadlines .
Annual Salary Range: $48,000 - $55,000
