the earth. With its ongoing destruction through environmental pollution more
short-wave UV rays reach the earth and make UVC protection vital for your eyes. All
Polaroid Sunglasses consistently guarantee 100% UVC protection. Ordinary
sunglasses, however, may not always offer sufficient protection against UVC rays.

                                     UVB (280 - 315 nanometer)
The reduction of the protective ozone layer also results in more UVB rays, that can
cause lesions of the cornea known as "snow blindness". Recent studies show, that
20% of all cataracts are caused by UV-light exposure. UVB protection is essential for
your eyes. Rely on Polaroid Sunglasses that consistently guarantee 100% UVB
protection. Ordinary sunglasses, however, may not always offer sufficient protection
                                     against UVB rays.

                                     UVA (315 - 400 nanometer)
UVA rays pass the cornea and are only absorbed by the lens. Children's eyes even
have a "transmission window" at 320 nanometer, where UV light can reach the retina
and cause permanent danger. It is vital that children's and teenager's eyes are
properly protected. Rely on Polaroid sunglasses for 100% UVA, UVB and UVC
protection up to 400 Nanometers. Ordinary sunglasses, however, may not always offer
                                     sufficient protection against UV-rays.

                                     Visible light (400 - 780 nanometer)
For each part of the spectrum good sunglasses should transmit a certain percentage
of light so we can perceive true, natural colors. The Polaroid LN (low neutral) lens
transmits an average of 15% of the visible light and is suitable for all kinds of outdoor
activities in bright sunlight. Polaroid LN lenses comply with the European Sunglass
Standard EN 1836. Ordinary sunglasses, however, may not pass the color recognition
tests of the European Sunglass Standard. Sunglasses that transmit less than 8% of
the visible light should be labeled with the note "not suitable for driving."

Polaroid is the INVENTOR of the polarizing lens.
Polaroid has always produced its own lenses in Norwood, U.S.A. In this day and age it
is unusual for a sunglass company to have its own lens production facility. Most
sunglass distributors buy their lenses from various subcontractors, mainly in the Far
                                     East.
Polaroid insists on producing its own lenses in order to provide the highest and most
consistent UV protection and lens quality. It is no coincidence, therefore, that the
Polaroid polarizing sunglass lens is recommended to the Australian population by the
Cancer Council of Western Australia for its consistently outstanding UV performance.
