Would you like to be part of a team involved in conducting highly specialized forensic
examinations and analyses? Join the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional
Services’ centre of forensic sciences biology section, to perform forensic scientific testing and
examinations, and provide interpretation, evidence expertise and advice. You will: conduct and
supervise the examination of items for the presence of blood and other body fluids; interpret
DNA STR profiles; prepare written reports; travel throughout Ontario to present complex
scientific information as an expert witness in court; participate in client education; mentor and
educate junior staff; participate in research and developmental projects. Location: 25 Grosvenor
Street, Toronto.

Qualifications: honours BA/B.Sc. or its equivalent with emphasis in molecular biology,
biochemistry or genetics; demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in forensic biology and
blood stain pattern interpretation; demonstrable knowledge of the quality assurance programs to
be able to ensure the quality of product; proven analytical skills to review files and examine
items and samples; ability to interpret test results; proven oral and written communication skills
to present forensic evidence, including DNA STR profiling in court as an expert witness, and
prepare scientific papers; proven ability to carry out research projects; demonstrated
interpersonal and teamwork skills to provide assistance regarding testing and examinations and
alternative options; excellent time management skills to determine priorities and direct the work
of forensic biology technicians, as required; experience with computer software programs,
including laboratory information management systems/database entry. Note: Applicants must
successfully complete a test for colour-blindness.

Salary range: $1,287 - $1,660 per week
