SEO Marketing Company Explains Importance of Incorporating SEO Techniques
in Website Design

The online marketplace is a competitive one. Ever since the days of the
dot com boom (and subsequent bust), many companies are striving to
achieve a competitive online presence so as to gain a leading edge over
their rivals.

Millions of people worldwide on a daily basis depend on the Internet as a
source of information. It is not unusual to see people surfing the web to
find out all they can about a subject matter, a product or service before
they actually commit to paying for it. This is what has made search
engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc., very popular.

Google for instance, has more than 500 million searchers using its search
engine on a daily basis. This is an aggregation of potential customers
from all corners of the globe, seeking, searching, yearning to have their
needs met and their desires fulfilled.

Savvy online businesses owners have recognised the search engines as a
huge source of potential business. But with so many companies competing
for a share of this marketplace, a top rank in the search engines is of
immense importance to any business hoping to get the attention of
potential online shoppers.

The concept behind search engine optimisation is simple. When using a
search engine to look for information, you type in words and phrases
(keywords) revolving round what you are searching for.

Let's use an example. If you are searching for an item we shall call
Scrupples, and the keywords associated with the word Scrupples are
searched for about 2,000,000 times in a month, it means that Scrupples is
a popular term and any product created around Scrupples, is most likely
to get the attention of searchers using this term. But, if you have a
million businesses selling products or services about Scrupples via the
search engines, which of them is most likely to make a sale? A prospect
will not have the time to review a million websites just to make a
choice. They will most likely visit those websites that occupy the first
page in the search engine rankings (usually the top 10) in order to make
his choice. In fact, over 90% of searchers don't search beyond the first
page of search engine rankings, and 70% of searchers click one or more of
the top 3 listings!

This example and statistics illustrate why it is so important for a web
business to try to achieve at least a top ten ranking in the search
engines. Unlike pay-per-click (PPC) marketing, you do not pay money to
search engine providers to get top ranking on their search engines. High
search engine rankings is a function of keyword density (closeness of the
keywords), keyword proximity (the location of the keywords on the page)
and keyword repetition (the number of times the keywords are repeated on
the page. Too many times is deemed to be SPAM!). Also, of vital
importance to achieve high rankings is the link popularity of the website
ie the number of internal links within the website combined with the
number and quality of back links or referring links to the website.

If you want your website to be found for keywords relevant to your
business then the website needs to be designed and developed taking the
keywords and link-popularity requirement into account, otherwise you will
end up with just an electronic brochure that keyword searchers will not
be able to find!

At Top Design in Perth, unlike your average website company, they
determine the size of your website ie the number of pages, by the number
of keywords that the website is to be found for. Top Design know from
their decade in the industry how many mainline keywords a webpage can to
found for taking the degree of competition for the keyword into
consideration. Once the number of keyword driven pages is established,
they add the other non-keyword driven pages (Contact Us etc.) to arrive
at a total and therefore a price.
