THE COURAGE TO
PURSUE YOUR DREAMS
What does it take to build an amazing business with Arbonne? Desire … a desire to change your life in a positive way, have time for the people and things that matter and have the freedom to make your own choices. It also takes courage … the courage to believe in yourself, be confident in the face of negativity and know that success rests squarely on you. However, anyone can succeed with Arbonne, if they have the vision of a better life and decide to make it happen. I never dreamed I would do something like Arbonne. I went to an Ivy League college and worked in the non-profit sector before pursuing my MBA at Yale. My desire to do something that was socially valuable led me to the health care industry and a career in marketing at a major pharmaceutical company. I climbed the corporate ladder and believed that I was “doing good” while “doing well.” However, when my father died, it opened my eyes to the obvious, which was that I was not going to be around forever, and my current life did not allow me the time or energy to focus on what really mattered to me in the world — my family, friends and our broader community. I felt I had made a deal with the devil. Although I was making a great six-figure income, I had sacrificed the life that I wanted to lead. I had three amazing children, a wonderful husband and a lot of interests and dreams, yet I did not have the time or energy to enjoy them fully. I felt trapped by the security my job gave me in the form of a large paycheck and long-term benefits. What else could I do that would provide the same rewards, without the same chains?

That is why, when my friend ERVP Dr. Tanis Gaitens, introduced me to Arbonne, I was willing to explore the opportunity. I was impressed by the products and the world-class marketing materials. The company’s rapid growth and the smart, compassionate executives that run the company also inspired me. I started my Arbonne business in March of 2005 and hit the ground running. As the primary breadwinner in my family, I knew that if I was going to make this work, I would need to make it work fast. I understood the compensation structure and knew of the financial potential. But what gave me the belief that this opportunity could really change my life was that I met women who were earning twice as much after two

years with Arbonne as I had been earning after 13 years in my corporate job! I am thrilled to have reached RVP in 10 months, to be earning a great income and driving a beautiful Mercedes-Benz. More importantly, I am now living the life I choose to lead. I have become more conscious of the choices I make each day and choose daily to be the best person I can possibly be. One of the most valuable things Arbonne has given me is the opportunity to work with and know the wonderful women on my team. AM Vicki West, AMs-in-qualification Missy Vitek and Linda Laskowski, DMs, Carol Biel, Andrea Volm, Barbara Hanuscin, Jen Lapa, Silvana Carbajal, Missy Kolsun and all the other DMs-in-qualification, as well as my Consultants and Clients, have all enriched my life greatly. I feel unbelievably fortunate to count them as colleagues and as friends. I never could have gotten here without them, and together we will all go far. Thank you, all! To my upline, child psychiatrist, ERVP Dr. Tanis Gaitens, and NVP Marlene Teleford: Tanis, Arbonne is in my life only because of the courage you had to think outside the box and the traditional expectations of educated professionals. I never would have had the courage to take the risk to begin a business with Arbonne on my own. Marlene, thank you for all your support and encouragement, for training me as if I were sponsored by you and for cheerfully sustaining my unending barrage of questions. Thank you both so much! To my husband, Miguel: You are my biggest cheerleader. Thank you for everything you do every day to make our lives better. Thank you also for being there for me and for just being you. I love you. To my children, Ariana, Pablo and Nicholas: I would not have seen so clearly that my life was out of balance if it were not for you. Just being the great kids you are made me see all the things I was missing out on. You have each helped me to be the person I want to be. Thank you and I love you! To my mom: When I first told you about Arbonne and network marketing you were skeptical, and you must have thought, “Where did I go wrong with this child?” How great that Arbonne has actually

brought us closer together! Thank you for your support; it means so much and I love you. Finally, I want to thank the person who would be getting the biggest kick out of my success, my dad. The last time I saw my dad, he was very sick. We were talking about what my life might be like in the future, the future he would not be part of. I told him that maybe I would change my career … move away … start something new … I did not know what exactly I wanted, but I knew that fear was holding me in place and I wanted something different. His words stick clearly in my head: “Whatever you decide to do I know you will succeed at … you already have all the tools you need inside.” My experience with Arbonne has shown me that my dad was right. In building my business, I have drawn upon inner resources I never knew I had and have learned many new things about myself. The road to success with Arbonne has not always been easy, but it has been transforming and uplifting. I would say to anyone who is considering building an Arbonne business that it is the journey, not the destination, that makes it all so worthwhile. Dare to trust that you already have everything you need inside.
