Steam Show Days We will again be at the Steam Show with a booth selling hamburgers and brats. We will be in a different spot this year, up closer to the event building. The plans are being made as to what we should add to the booth this year. There will be a need for help at this fund raiser. If you are able and like to have some fun socializing this is a great opportunity. For the people who do not get to the meetings and would like to help with anything from set up to take down and even getting supplies there, contact Norbert Lee 687-4797 or e-mail at norbertlee2008@gmail.com Stratford VFW Ben Marohl receiving the post award for earning top Egale Scout award. VFW Post 6352 has a separate page on the above website. All military veterans are invited to participate in the Memorial Day Parade. Be at the Club House by 9:00 am. Parade line-up will be at the Stratford High School beginning at 9:30 am. In case of inclement weather the program will be held in the High School gym. We are pleased to have Past VFW Department Commander Bill Hustad (2007-2008) as our main speaker. Past Cmdr. Hustad served with the 101st ABN in Vietnam and lives in New Glarus, WI. Reminder: There is a mail box set up at the Club House for dropping off worn out flags. We ask all members to continue to support the Buddy Poppies Program. Help out whenever you can. Upcoming Events • • • • • • • • • • • • • Steak Feed every 1st Tuesday of the month. Christmas Party MEMBERSHIP Your membership is important to the VFW Veterans helping Veterans. If you know of any veterans that are coming back try to sign them up as a member. It is every ones job to as vets to join the VFW. Rita’s Corner: Greetings Auxiliary Sisters: We are about to begin a very busy season. The Memorial Day parade will be on May 25th. Anyone able to march meet at the VFW Clubhouse at 9:00 am. in marching attire– Long sleeved jacket or sweater, red shell, navy pants and white shoes, hats and gloves are furnished at the clubhouse. After the parade there is a pot luck luncheon at the clubhouse. In the past, it has been well attended. For Heritage Days in June marching attire is a short sleeved blouse red shell, navy pants and white shoes. It would be great if we had a nice large turn out for both parades. The Post is having a brat fry on June 19th. The Auxiliary is having a brat on July 17th and the Post is having a second one in Aug. If we help the men they in turn will help us. If you are able to work for any of these call Betty, Rita or Ruth Brenneka. If you can help for a couple hours. It all helps. The Brat fries go from 10:00 am until sold out or until 4;00 pm. As of July 1, 2009 dues are due to membership chairman Rita Wiseman. We try to get them all in by Aug. 15th to earn money from National. This year we need to replace 3 members for the ones that passed away. If you know anyone interested give, Rita a call. If you are able to donate blood Thursday July, 30th and Oct. 1st, the Bloodmobile is at the clubhouse from 3:30-6:30 pm. Our Christmas party is on Dec. 8th. I hope I have not forgotten anything, so a warm welcome to our activities, hope to see you around. We would like to keep them informed of the activities of our Post. Special Thanks The officers of Post 6352 would like to thank all the members that take part in the Color Guard, at the football games, homecoming parade and the funeral honor guard. They do a super job. We will do the football games again. Color Guard meet at the club house at 6:30 on game night. Raffle Tickets Tickets are out for Heritage Days in Stratford. We can all help this year by buying the tickets that are sent to you. If you did not receive tickets and would like to help out and purchase them, contact Norbert Lee or John Southworth or e-mail stfd6352@Verizon.net. The cost for the tickets are $1.00 or 6 for $5.00 and the limited tickets are $20.00 each. We would like to have a good turn out this year for Heritage Days event. If you can help let us know or if you get on the list and are unable to help for any reason let us know and we will find a replacement for you. Long Range Events Stratford Post 6352 and Auxiliary are making plans for the Brat fries; June 19, July 17 and August, 2009, at CWC Station. Plan to help, if available. Heritage Days in June. This is one of our major fundraisers for the year. Work lists are made up in April & May. Members that are unable to work/ attend should notify Norbert Lee or John Southworth by the end of April. Antique Steam & Engine show August 27th-30th. The VFW 6352 will set up a food booth again at this show.
