Yellowfin Releases White Paper on Cloud Computing and BI as a SaaS
Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor, Yellowfin, has released a new
white paper that defines and outlines the benefits of Cloud Computing and
BI as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) deployment.
Melbourne, VIC, October 25, 2010 -- Business Intelligence (BI) software
vendor, Yellowfin, has released a new white paper that defines and
outlines the benefits of Cloud Computing and BI as a Software-as-a-
Service (SaaS) deployment.
The white paper – Business Intelligence in The Cloud – is available for
free download from the Yellowfin website at:
The paper provides a framework for understanding Cloud Computing in the
context of BI software and discusses the difference between Public,
Private, Community and Hybrid Clouds; summarizes the characteristics and
potential benefits of BI as a SaaS application; and explains why its
popularity is growing, especially amongst small to midsized businesses
Cloud Computing offers organizations access to a range of IT resources,
including software and infrastructure, on a pay per use or subscription
“The benefits of BI as a SaaS application are potentially enormous,
especially for small to midsized businesses, which can glean the benefits
of BI software without the in-house demands and costs associated with on-
site deployment,” said Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie.
“SaaS and Cloud Computing allow organizations to concentrate on their
product offerings instead of their IT department.”
SaaS technologies are dramatically altering the way that those in the BI
industry are making their services available, and how businesses are
harnessing the power of reporting and analytics software.
The popularity of BI as a SaaS application is growing rapidly. A recent
survey of 500 US based IT end-user clients by non-profit trade
association, CompTIA, found that organizations will continue to rapidly
initiate or expand on existing SaaS projects in 2010.
The study, Cloud Computing: Pulling Back the Curtain, found that almost
75 percent of all organizations surveyed said they intended to increase
spending on Cloud programs.
Utilizing SaaS solutions are an effective way to minimize costs and
maximize performance. But, there are many noteworthy benefits of using BI
as a SaaS application, providing the application is suited to deployment
in The Cloud.
“Yellowfin is the only BI product that has been designed from the ground
up to support SaaS deployments – either as a standalone application or
embedded into a SaaS solution,” said Rabie.
“You can deploy Yellowfin in traditional hosted environments, or in the
Cloud, supporting either multi-database or multi-tenancy environments.
Not only is the software designed for SaaS, but, our subscription based
pricing model is too.”
