                                               Extra Credit Earth Science

Students may earn an extra grade as a bonus 1 point to the grade average during this semester.
The bonus point is based on a related experience in earth science. Maximum 2 points in a
semester.

I want this to be an educational and family project. I do not want this to be any thing other than
you as a parent providing the opportunity for the event or experience. I do not want you to take it
upon yourselves to do a project for your child. Many of you already go to events or take family
outings together to many of these great educational sites.

What is required in order to receive credit for the experience? (#1-4 chose one, #5 is required).

1. A brief written summary (at least one paragraph) of what was observed.
2. A brief written summary (at least one paragraph) of what you learned from the experience and
how it relates to what we have studied during this course.
3. A brochure, map, ticket stub, souvenir item from the location.
4. A note from your parents that you went to the location.
5. A brief oral report to the class (1-3 minutes).

Suggested events for experiences: Georgia Parks, Federal Historical Sites, Performances, &
Museums.
You’ll find many events on the Internet: www.georgia.org is a good starting location.
They can always ask me if in doubt of the selected event/experience.
