Recently, we’ve focused on Twitter’s astronomical growth - now up better than 2,500 percent in one year - and Facebook’s climb to become top social network over MySpace. Ning, which recently announced that more than one million social networks have been created using its service, is currently the 2nd fastest growing social networking property. Its traffic is up 283 percent year-over-year, and it now reaches a total of 5.6 million people in the US. Bebo, which we recently reported saw a one month surge of nearly 50 percent on the heels of a redesign and AIM integration, has grown 148 percent in the past year, and now reaches more than 6.1 million people in the US. LinkedIn continues to be one of the quickest growing social sites and has more than doubled its size in the past year. It now reaches better than 15.8 million people in the US, ranking it 3rd in total size behind Facebook and MySpace. Twitter is now growing at a mind-boggling 2,565 percent. In total, it reached more than 13 million people in the US during the month - and that’s just on its website (i.e. - not counting clients like TweetDeck or Seesmic Desktop). Facebook continues to extend its lead over MySpace. In March, it saw 69.1 million visitors, versus 55.9 million for the News Corp-owned social networking site. In fact, MySpace was the only social networking site measured in the Nielsen survey that saw its traffic decline year-over-year. [mashable]

Wal-Mart has been booming since the recession began, and with 2008 sales of $406 billion dollars, the retail giant had its best year ever. That didn't stop Wal-Mart from losing its grip on first place in the Fortune 500, though, as Exxon Mobil smoked all comers with $443 billion in sales last year. Exxon Mobil also topped all companies in profits last year, tallying a cool $45 billion in revenue. Exxon Mobil's ascent to the top of the Fortune 500 comes as little surprise given the ridiculous rise of oil over the spring and summer of 2008. Oil rose from $60-$80 per barrel in 2007 to $147 per barrel in July, 2008. Even the surprising drop to under $40 per barrel in December didn't put a damper in Exxon Mobil's record year. In a cheeky bit of naked ambition, French automaker Peugeot inundated London's morning commuters today with a pool of 308 'nude' actors who appeared to only be wearing scarves. What was the reason for the au natural display? Why, to celebrate the arrival of the company's latest topless model, the 308 Coupe Cabriolet. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that the flesh flash mob was actually outfitted in form-fitting body-colored suits, thus preventing the local authorities getting rude with the nudes.Interestingly, the 308CC has actually been on offer since the beginning of the month, but we can understand Peugeot's reluctance to send out its birthday suit troops on April Fools' Day, lest everyone get a rise out of this odd bit of viral *ahem* marketing.
