workforce this year and to
expand the awareness of
AIAA to all of the engineer-
ing disciplines working in
the aviation and aerospace
arena. AIAA is a truly
diverse engineering disci-

have a new hire in your
area, please extend a hearty
welcome to our excit-
ing career field and invite
him/her to join AIAA. Do
you have a member of your

Recommendation: Congress should continue to invest in America’s future. Continuing to provide robust and reli-
able funding for the S&T accounts is essential to ensure that the critical basic research technology pipeline continues
to produce the breakthroughs of tomorrow. While the AIAA supports providing 3% of the overall DoD budget for the
S&T accounts, Congress should also recognize the importance of investing equitably in these accounts. The 6.1 Basic
Research account is less susceptible to the ebbs and flows of military procurement. Providing consistency in funding will
also provide consistency in this research and assure America’s continued role as the leader in developing defense and
commercial technology.
