Availability and Cost of First Aid Training In Colorado
According to the new assisted living regulations passed by the Board of Health on April 16, 2008 and effective
November 1, 2008, there shall be at least one staff person onsite at all times who has a current certification in
first aid specific to adults (standard first aid) that meets the standards of either the American Red Cross or the
American Heart Association. This training must be documented in the staff record.
To assist you in complying with this new regulation, the following pages contain information on the availability
and cost of first aid courses in Colorado. This is not a comprehensive list. We also encourage you to check your
city/county recreation center, nearest community college, local fire department or hospital. These are the places
that generally offer such courses or have information on who does.
(Please note: There is not a regulation in Colorado requiring CPR training in assisted living residences.)
