                        Scholarships in Accounting

The IMA Scholarships are awarded by the MidSouth/Memphis Area Chapter of the Institute of Management
Accountants to encourage students to pursue careers in the field of Management Accounting. To be eligible, a
student must be a member of the IMA and maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Students must also have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in all Accounting courses completed. Students
must have completed Accounting Principles I and II to apply. Candidates must enroll in six hours of Accounting
courses in the semester in which the scholarship is received. There are two $1,000 scholarships to be awarded for
the 2008-2009 school year. The required IMA membership dues for the first year will be reimbursed.

Along with the above information, a completed application should include:

1.       A resume listing: a) all academic honors including scholarships, fellowships, academic prizes, and honorary
         societies to which you have been elected; b) all extracurricular activities in which you have participated
         indicating any offices held; and c) a description of any work related experience.

2.       An essay of 500 words or less indicating your interest in management accounting and career plans in
         business or industry.

3.       A list of three references one of whom should be an accounting professor. Have each reference mail a letter
         of recommendation to the same address as you mail your application.

4.       An official transcript of your grades and a list of the courses in which you are currently enrolled.
