Metz & Associates Introduces the Green Team
Conserving our natural resources and protecting the environment are increasingly important topics in today’s society. Metz & Associates shares these concerns and is diligently working on a variety of ways to do our part to help the earth. To spearhead our efforts, we’ve established the “Green Team,” a committee of corporate support staff, operators, vendor partners and state organizations to develop programs and initiatives that will allow Metz & Associates to be a leader in areas such as conservation, sustainability, local sourcing and fair trade practices. The Green Team has already instituted a number of corporate policies that makes an immediate impact at our accounts, including: • Company wide adoption of compostable napkins made from recycled materials • Partnering with state organizations such as PA Preferred and Ohio Proud to promote local sourcing • Encouraging our guests to use refillable mugs at all locations through discounts and promotions • Company wide phase in of environmentally friendly cleaning products • Offering our clients the options of organic, fair trade, eco-friendly disposable products. In addition to these corporate initiatives, we are committed to working closely with our client partners and vendors to determine ways to make each of our accounts greener. T.G.I Friday’s Bartender Olympics Benefits American Cancer Society & Don Dube
T.G.I. Friday’s recently held a Bartender Olympics challenge at the Toms River, N.J. location to benefit the American Cancer Society and long-time employee Don Dube. Bartenders from 8 of the Metz Group’s locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey showcased their flair behind the bar to raise money. In addition, prizes were auctioned off to the highest bidders. The event raised more than $12,000. Don Dube, a 25-year T.G.I. Friday’s employee and 13-year Metz Group member, is the General Manager at the Toms River location and a huge Jimmy Buffet fan (as shown in the picture on the right).

Nicotine is a powerful addiction. If you have tried to quit before, you know how hard it can be. People who try to quit smoking go through both physical and psychological withdrawal. Here are some tips to help you: • Drink plenty of liquids, especially water, but avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages. • Avoid sugar and fatty foods. • Exercise regularly and moderately. • Get more sleep. • Take deep breaths. • Remind yourself every day why you are quitting. • Avoid places/activities that you associate with smoking. • Develop a plan for relieving stress. • Get support from your family and friends. • Try a nicotine replacement product to help relieve the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Fresh produce is a big seller in the summer, but how much do you really know about your fruits and veggies? Which of the following items is NOT a berry? A. Eggplant C. Avocado B. Tomato D. Orange
¼ cup of Chinese bread crumbs 1 lg egg beaten ½ cup thinly sliced onions 2 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 ¼ lbs ground turkey (not extra lean) Garnish: Leaf lettuce & Chinese or honey mustard Yield: 4 burgers

Procedure
Blend bread crumbs, egg, green onion, soy sauce, garlic & ginger. Add turkey and gently mix together with a fork. Divide turkey mixture into 4 burgers and place on a heated grill brushed with olive oil. During the last minute of grilling, place buns face down on grill to lightly toast. Enjoy!!!
