Co-written with Swift by 2007 SESAC Songwriter of the Year Liz Rose, ole was awarded a Country Performance Activity Award for "Picture To Burn" and a Recurrent Country Performance Activity Award for "Teardrops On My Guitar." "Teardrops" was also named BMI Country Song of the Year at the 2008 BMI Country Awards. The Liz Rose publishing share of both Swift hits was recently purchased by ole as part of the Jody Williams Music catalogue. Rose co-wrote four songs on Fearless, which topped both The Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts this past week with U.S. sales of 597,000 copies. Three of Rose's four contributions are published by ole through their recent purchase of the Jody Williams Music catalogue: "Fearless" (co-written with Taylor Swift and Hillary Lindsey); "Tell Me Why" and "White Horse," (both co-written with Swift). Over 18 million fans of the hit ABC series Grey's Anatomy recently enjoyed an advance preview of "White Horse" when the song debuted on the show's fifth season premiere on September 25, 2008. Taylor Swift's Fearless success comes hot on the heels of her 2006 self-titled debut Big Machine album - which featured seven ole-published Rose co-writes, including the chart-topping hits "Tim McGraw," "Picture To Burn" and "Teardrops On My Guitar" - has sold more almost 4 million copies in the U.S. alone and topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 25 weeks earlier this year. Rose also contributed material to Swift's million-selling, chart-topping Beautiful Eyes EP released earlier this year. Originally from Irving, Texas, Rose has called Franklin, Tennessee home for the past 15 years, shifting from song plugger to songwriter when she joined Jody Williams Music Publishing several years ago. Swift was an aspiring 14-year-old recording artist when Rose began their collaboration. Since then, Rose's songs have been covered by Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, Bonnie Raitt, Terri Clark, Lee Ann Womack and Billy Gilman. Rose also co-wrote the Top 20 Gary Allan hit "Songs About Rain" and is currently climbing the charts with the Page 6/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. The Eaglet was named for Charlie to honor him for his work and support of our troops. (PRWEB) November 19, 2008 -- Just before a stellar performance at the Crystal Music theatre in the Wisconsin Dells, WI, on Saturday, November 15, 2008, Charlie Daniels posed with Lisa Loucks Christenson, author-wildlife artist and host of Lisa's Walk The Talk Show after she presented him with her signed, Limited Edition, giclee print, titled "Daniels Charlie" from her bald eagle documentary project, Year Four Dancer & Daedee: Snow Falling on Eagles. Charlie was given the first giclee print to sign or leave unsigned, and then Charlie signed the remaining two giclee art prints. One will hang on the walls of her Rochester, Minnesota gallery and rotate to her Stockholm, Wisconsin gallery next year, the remaining print will be on display at The National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN along with her Bald Eagle Documentary and Winter Bugs! Exhibits currently on display there. During an interview for her year two season premiere, Support our Troops broadcast, she promised Charlie that she would name the firstborn eagle after him during the next nesting season if she continued the eagle documentary a 4th year, except all eagles on that nest started with the letter "D" so his name will be Daniels Charlie to honor him for all he has done for the world and our troops with his music. In April 2008, after almost 100 days of waiting through blizzards, snowstorms, and nest building, incubation, Daniels Charlie was born during a sleet storm in the minus 30 degree temperatures. The oldest twin of two eaglets, Daniels sibling eaglet was named DODEE Brian Michael, America's eagle, who represents our servicemen and woman serving and an eagle to be a messenger of love to families who had lost a loved one. Lisa Loucks Christenson said, "They say, eagles are messengers of Heaven, and after four years and watching over 15 eaglets fledge, I'm convinced they are. I learned while speaking at the National Eagle Center's Deck Opener this past November 1, 2008, that even the Lakota Indians believe that the eagles fly the highest of all our birds, and bring back messages from beyond." Lisa asked Charlie to bestow names beginning with the letter "D" for the Year Five Dancer & Daedee: Gifts of our Eagles project eagles, if any are born this next year they will be given the names he selected. Lisa will begin her year five documentary in January 2009. The eaglets names from her eagle pair Daedee and Dancer, mother and father, will be announced on her blog: www.LisaLC.com. Lisa's Bald Eagle Documentary has been featured in local and regional news, television and papers, and her private lives of bald eagles exhibit is on display at The National Eagle Center. Lisa has written four books on the eagles and has recorded over a million images, and 400 hours of bald eagles private lives from nest building, to courtship, rearing and the relationships after the eagles fledge. Produced by veteran hitmaker Robert Metzgar, Williams latest single release, "Real Fire" has just made it into Billboard's top 150 hot country singles at radio stations around the globe. Williams has been compared to Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson all her contemporaries in country music. Hollywood, CA, Nashville, TN, New York, NY (PRWEB) November 11, 2008 -- Stephanie Williams may be a down home Maryland country girl, but she sounds like one of the most polished new female country superstars that have the wind at their back. "If you pick up a copy of her latest album entitled, Real Fire, you'll see what all the buzz is about on music row." Williams is on fire as a female artist in a crowded field along with Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson. Vocally, she shines like a full moon on a clear night overlooking the ocean. Entertainment Headline News editor Mikel Gore interviewed Stephanie this week about her new single record which is already in the Billboard charts and making its way into the Top 100 Billboard hot single releases for 2009. Q: Stephanie what is secret of your latest Billboard success with the song, "Real Fire?" A: "Recording in Nashville today is still financially reasonable." I met with Hall of Fame producer Robert Metzgar and talked with him about recording my current album about a year ago. He put together a group of songs that I considered from a list of Nashville's most famous songwriters. From the outset, I just loved the song, Real Fire, which was written by Tom Shapiro and Sharon Vaughn. I came to Nashville and recorded with some of the greatest session musicians over a period of about six months and finally got the project finished. Now that the single record is at radio, we are seeing the results of a long campaign to promote this record. Q: What are some of the artists that you personally listened to as a young person growing up? A: As a child growing up in Calvert county Maryland, I listened to Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, The Judds, and even Patsy Cline on the radio. I have one sister and my family was always into music. I started in chorus at my middle school and then at Calvert High School got the greatest help from Paul Douglass who was our chorus teacher and Lou Libello our band instructor. By the time I graduated from High School a few years ago, I was following Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride and Garth Brooks. My heart was in country music. I constantly sing everywhere I go, whether its in the car or around the house. "Singing is my life and I have music in my heart all the time." I am excited to be a Platinum Plus Universal recording artist. Q: What were your earliest performances as a singer/songwriter? Page 16/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. Our complete disclaimer appears here. - PRWeb eBooks - Another online visibility tool from PRWeb A: I have always sang in church and in various venues throughout my area. I really got my start singing with my friend Deanna's karaoke business. She would travel around and put on karaoke shows and I would sing in all these various venues. It helped strengthen my voice and bring me to the point where I wanted to record. When you think that 48,000 new artists put out records every quarter, and only 35 of those artists will ever find their way into any chart at all, "It is very humbling to think that you have a single record in the Billboard charts," and other charts from your album project. I did get songs from a virtual "Who's Who?" of Nashville's hit songwriting community. My producer solicited songs from the best songwriters in Music City. "MCA Universal producer & consultant Robert Metzgar has had a song that he has produced in the national charts every week for the past nine years." Q: Who do you emulate as a role model? A: I have always looked up to my husband Ronnie from the time we met in Solomon, Maryland and he has been my rock in my music career. We have spent literally hundreds of hours mailing out records, publicity packages and working together on getting my music out there to the public. I finally got the courage to apply to the CMA as a working artist and now we have associated our music career with IFCO (International Fan Club Organization) the CMA (Country Music Association) and BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) "The album is distributed by the big four through my record company, Platinum Plus Universal." The street date for the album is November 24th. In this election cycle with the candidates spending in excess of a 100 million a month on media coverage, our record people thought it would be sensible to wait and release the album in stores shortly after the election cycle finished. It would be almost impossible to break a new artist through the media with all the election coverage. So, we'll have a good run on our record until the charts freeze for Christmas and then in the New Year, we'll be ready to put the hammer down and get the promotion moving for the start of 2009. Signing months are ahead of us in January 2009 and I am looking forward to moving to that next level in music. Q: Tell us about your family? A: I graduated from Calvert High School. My parents supported my music and I have one sister. I am married with two children, Shawn my son is 9 years old and Haleigh is my daughter is 4. As a family we all work together around my husband Ronnie's business. My husband is an independent contractor. I have 3 dogs and one cat and we all get along. That is a miracle! "I love my kids, my pets and my music." I sing and perform in our region as my music gets going and know that music is like any other business. It takes commitment and hard work to put your music together as a business and see it become successful. Q: What are your goals in the music business? A: Mr. Gore, "I have worked hard for everything that I have ever accomplished in life." I worked in a bakery, I worked in a drug store as a Pharmacy technician and have held about every kind of job a girl could in order to Page 17/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. My goals are to grow my music and make my career in music successful on the national stage. "My producer and label have helped me get to the first level" and I am now ready for the next level. The success of my single record, Real Fire, at radio and with the public is something that I am extremely proud of. I appreciate every fan who buys the album and every person who encourages me in a concert. Country music fans are the most loyal music fans in the world. Nashville, TN (PRWEB) November 5, 2008 -- Texasee has always been more than a musical album to Luke Powers. It has been a mission. The college professor wanted a concept--to create a fictional space that occasionally crossed the border into reality. He wanted to share this place with the world. He enlisted his musical partner Tommy Spurlock, a Texan who was a little skeptical about the whole idea. "What's wrong with Texas? Or what's wrong with Tennessee?" Spurlock demanded. "I don't see any good putting the two of them together?!" But Dr. Powers persisted. How could he explain to Spurlock that he wanted to make an album as good an one of William Faulkner's books? An album like "The Sound and the Fury." And if Spurlock couldn't get it, could anyone else? Dr. Powers wanted to create, like Faulkner, his own Yoknapatawpha County. His Texasee is a no-man's modeled on the moody mindscape of T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land." A place full of crazy violence, meaningless gestures, elliptical narratives bordering, fragmentary insights that will not cohere--but not without the possibility of some rare moment of transcendence, some higher truth that redeems the badlands. It seemed a tall order. But Powers had a crack group of musicians to help pull the vision together: • Producer/Musician: Tommy Spurlock (Rick Danko, David Olney, Deadstring Brothers, Derailers, The Spicewood Seven); • Engineer: Bradley Hartman (Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris); • Guitar: Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart, et al); • Drums: Jamie Oldaker (Eric Clapton), • Bass/Guitar: John Davis of Superdrag; • Vocals: the great Suzi Ragsdale (Guy Clark, Darrell Scott). The CD totaled sixteen tracks. "You're crazy," Spurlock insisted, "that's too many songs. Why don't you just put forty on there?!" But things started to happen. The long-shot album landed a surprise nomination for a GRAMMY in the Contemporary Folk/Americana Category. Lavish praise came in from Disc Jockeys and reviewers--who seemed to get it: Page 23/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. Clearly, Texasee is a CD to watch, and better yet, to listen to. In a world of over-produced, over-marketed, oversexed "musical entertainment," it aspires in its own humble, home-made way to be a work of art. Maybe not Art with a capital "A", but art that is less about being a commodity for distribution and profit and more about being a testament, a vision, a musical space where truth can dance. London, UK (PRWEB) October 31, 2008 -- HyperDIY Media are offering bands a new service which promises to take the weight off unsigned or independent artists, by helping build their fan base, raise awareness of the artist and directly engage the public so as to help grow a bands following. Their service will focus on building up the artists fan base by managing the artists websites, networking, branding and anything that will lead to an increased and loyal following. "The idea was to provide a service which will do all the tried and tested actions, often rightly recommended by people like Ariel Hyatt and Bob Baker, to help artists develop that all important fan base. The problem for most modern artists is that they have a day job as they have rent to pay and have to pay for all the things that you need to when you make music- like instruments and strings and so on. They simply don't have enough hours in their day to build on their following in the ways that are necessary. Doing your own promotions, getting mailing lists together, looking after websites, all takes a lot of time and if you're not in a 4-piece band or larger, it's pretty much impossible to do without some outside help. That's where we come in," says Richard Godbehere, Managing Director. "We're offering to act as the '5th Beatle' if you like, whereby we take care of all of these things for the artists and do it for them, so they can get on with doing what they do best. Playing, writing and performing." Better still, HyperDIY has the ability to Mix and Master tracks, send material out to their extensive media contacts, write and publish press releases, design covers and logo's, distribute the artist online and through CD baby and Amazon and just about anything else the band needs doing. They are also offering a free e-book on their website, 'Best of Music DIY" compiling the very best tips from across the Internet to help artists. HyperDIY's services are based in London, UK, but with a reach world-wide. They act as a record label style 'backend', providing anything an artist might need - from Mastering and Production, to Distribution and Self-publishing, right through to Radio, Online and Physical Promotions, Video Production, Website Design and anything else you would expect from a record label. However, HyperDIY don't ask for any rights or royalties and instead work on a simple 'fixed fee' scheme. They can also assist new and growing record labels, online music magazines and anyone else who may not have the contacts or manpower to do everything themselves. Recent HyperDIY clients include dPulse Records, Scarlet BLONDE, New Vision Recordings, Vahn, Snovonne and more. ### Page 26/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. (PRWEB) October 29, 2008 -- One Up Web Services presents Whoditty.com, an innovative music lyrics search and a social networking opportunity for music fans. Members of the site can search for music style, search for artist and lyrics, add tags to the search criteria, and connect with one another. "Whoditty answers the musical question, 'Who plays that song I just heard?'" states Brett Monk, of One Up Services. "Further, it gives users a community where music fans and artists can interact." Bands and music promoters are invited to create profile pages then upload their music and videos to promote their acts. Whoditty offers a solution for those artists asking where to upload their own music online. The band or singer's music and lyrics are then available for visitors performing a latest music search for up and coming acts or a music artist search for a particular genre. One component utilized by Whoditty that is lacking in other search engines for music is its affiliation with LyricFind, who provides a complete, accurate, and fully legal database for its free music search engine. The ability to tag songs from TV commercial and songs from movies is also unique to this website. "Within a year we expect to hear the word 'whoditty'd' used as a verb meaning 'searched for a tune' in the same vein that 'googled' is used to search for generic topics." Monk says of this latest music search site. The website is targeted to all music fans and artists across all genres and generations. For music fans who have tried other specific style searches, such as pop or country music search engines, Whoditty offers a one-stop music lyrics search that encompasses all genres. According to Monk, Whoditty is more than just a top ten music search engine; it allows a visitor to find the song by part of the lyrics or by tags, which contain other information about the song. It can be a recent hit or an old favorite. The visitor can then browse the site for other fans of the song or bands that have a similar style. Site users can search music and listen, and have the opportunity to purchase the CD through Amazon.com or download the mp3 file. If the song is not on the site yet, the user can upload it. There have been great music search engines used in the past, but if the question, "What is the best music search engine?" is posed in the near future, Monk wants the answer to be Whoditty.com. (PRWEB) October 27, 2008 -- It's American Idol meets YouTube - this fall, the first-ever Web-to-TV music talent show, called "Make A Star," will give amateur singers as well as unsigned and recently signed artists the chance to win international prominence and a $10,000 cash prize. The show's producers are now calling on all singers and bands interested in competing to sign up now on the show's Web site (www.makeastar.com) in order to receive updates about the show and instructions on how to upload their videos. Video submissions begin in the first week of November. "Make A Star," which will premiere November 22nd and run for 13 weeks on FUSE, is dramatically different from other reality contestant shows, like American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. The show uses a patented online process, making it easier for more people around the world to participate in the competition by simply uploading a video of their performance, rather than having to travel to far away cities to audition. "'Make A Star' marks the beginning of a new era in entertainment, where the Internet and television are no longer separate, but linked," said Iman Foroutan, Ph.D., chairman and CEO of Equal Chance Productions and Contest Factory, which created and developed the show. Dr. Foroutan and Contest Factory also own the patent to the online contest process. "Although the new show debuts a brand new TV concept, in mid-season no less, and without a multi-million dollar advertising and marketing budget, we expect it to generate significant interest via word-of-mouth in the online community as well as television viewers." Pro-gun song by singer/songwriter Mike Fischer echoes the sentiments of those "small-town dwelling, bitter folks that cling to their guns and religion ..." Branson, Missouri (PRWEB) October 24, 2008 -- Against the backdrop of recent comments by Barak Obama about those in rural, American, small towns being "bitter and clinging to their guns and religion" comes a new CD/DVD by The Fischers entitled "Don't Make Me Come Down There!" "Stone-Cold Dead," is an in-your-face, Second Amendment song that drives home the chorus, "Ain't no way they're gettin' my guns unless I'm stone-cold dead!" You might remember a similar quote attributed to Charlton Heston, when he raised a Revolutionary War musket over his head at a major National Rifle Association meeting and yelled, "You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers." The spirit of that quote is captured in this song and is sure to be a hit with those who embrace the right of American citizens to bear arms. Fischer, born in '47, grew up with guns, hunted rabbits, squirrel, quail, and other small game from a very young age. Mike's father, a retired Air Force Colonel, had a collection of guns from his government issue .45-caliber colt to a Japanese Nambu machine gun he brought home from Okinawa after the war. Fischer remembers his Dad strapping that .45 to the steering column of their 1950 Studebaker when the Family drove across the States on vacation back in '54. "As kids, Dad often took us out shooting. Our targets were beer cans that we'd throw into the air, and we'd have contests between Dad, myself, and my three brothers to see who could keep that can up in the air the longest by blowing holes in it with a pistol that we'd draw as soon as the can was thrown. Why, I remember one time keeping that can up in the air for five minutes, and I'd still be there today except we ran out of ammunition. Dad taught us that we were never to lie, so you'll have to forgive me for that last story about the cans. He taught us to respect guns, always treat them as if they were loaded, and never point a gun at someone you don't intend to kill. Needless to say, we never pointed our guns at anyone." "Dad also taught us by his example to love America. He was straight up and down and as red, white, and blue as they come. You didn't have to guess what he was thinking. One thing we all knew that really set him off were those folks who took the oath of office to 'support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic' but failed to do so. To him they were traitors. Some of his favorite sayings were, 'Nuke 'em 'til they glow in the dark and then shoot 'em!' and, for violent criminals it was 'Shoot'em and let God deal with them on the other side!' Now, for those of us who are God-fearing and live in the center of our great nation, the 'Heartland,' the "flyover states" -- you know, away from the two coasts and all those weird, liberal people that live there. We can laugh at the statements my Dad made and know exactly what he was talking about. Of course, he wasn't serious about nuking people 'till they glow in the dark, but there was a certainty in his saying that let you know exactly where he stood on the issues and what he'd do if he thought he could get away with it. My Dad was a patriot!" "Don't Make Me Come Down There" by the Fischers is good, down-home "country-tinged, oldies, rock and roll" music that you can sing along with and mean it. It's all about God, Love, Country, Pro Life, Pro Family, Pro Creation, and other wholesome material that country folks typically believe, and if you don't like that that sort of Page 34/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. The Fischers, Mike and Karyn and their two boys Sam (11) and Reuben (7), are a Christian family which adds a twist to the old quote, "A family that prays (and plays) together stays together." Mike And Sam Fischer got their start performing together at a church picnic in Houston. Mike was asked to get up and sing some of his original songs and had no sooner started when 5-year-old Sam jumped up on the bench next to his Dad and started belting out the songs he knew so well from home. Folks were astounded at his boldness and stage presence and several said that he "ought to be on TV." The Fischers moved to Nashville where they played all the famous places that are open to up and coming artists. It was there that Mike and Sam recorded their first album together, also available at their website. Mike confesses that it's really Sam that is the star of the show. He's just a natural-born entertainer, and there's no place he'd rather be than on stage. Karyn Fischer debuts her recording talents on a beautiful song called "The Famine," written by Mike's daughter, Kerenina Fischer. (Full story on the website) Both Mike and Karyn have served as missionaries overseas and, between them, have over 40 years in Australia, India, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Thailand and China. They are some of those Christians still "clinging tightly to their God and guns." When you listen to their music, you can hear those deep-seated beliefs coming through. It also includes the latest concert tour schedule, concert photos, the latest news, and working photos from Morgan's farm near Nashville, Tenn. Racine, WI (PRWEB) October 23, 2008 -- Case IH, a global leader in farm equipment, recently launched a new Web site to present its unique relationship with country music star Craig Morgan - CraigMorgan.CaseIH.com. The partnership was born after Morgan released the video for his Billboard Top Ten song "International Harvester." The video features a hardworking farmer and - you guessed it - an International Harvester Axial-Flow 1460 combine. International Harvester is what the "IH" in Case IH stands for, and the company has been producing its legendary Axial-Flow combine line for more than 30 years. Together, Case IH and Craig Morgan are saluting the American farmer through both the "Craig Morgan International Harvester Tour, Powered by Case IH," and a Web site, CraigMorgan.CaseIH.com. The new site gives users access to behind-the-scenes photos of Morgan taken during the taping of the Great American Country television special, "Craig Morgan: Back to Bragg, presented by Case IH." It also includes the latest concert tour schedule, concert photos, the latest news, and working photos from Morgan's farm near Nashville, Tenn. Morgan is the proud new owner of a Case IH Farmall® 55 tractor, complete with a Case IH front-end loader and backhoe. The tractor was a gift from Case IH in recognition of the new partnership and as a thank you for helping bring farming into the spotlight. "I'm not your traditional farmer, of course, but like a lot of people who live in the country and own acreages or small farms, I rely on a good tractor - for both fun and function!" says Morgan. "I've used my Case IH Farmall to till the garden, to create food plots for wildlife and to make and groom dirt bike trails. We get a lot of use out of it." Vice President of the Case IH North American Agricultural Business Jim Walker ceremonially presented the tractor keys during a concert appearance near Case IH headquarters in Racine, Wis., this summer, and the tractor was later delivered by Case IH representatives to Morgan's farm. "Craig Morgan stands for a lot of the same things Case IH stands for - pride in our agricultural heritage and a strong belief in the value of hard work - which is evidenced in the lyrics to his hit song," says Jim Walker, vice president, Case IH North American Agricultural Business. "We share a commitment to the American farmer and rural living, and we hope CraigMorgan.CaseIH.com, along with the concert tour, help build excitement around and pay tribute to that tradition," adds Walker. Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) October 23, 2008 -- Ontario songwriters took top honors in this year's Great Lakes Songwriting Contest. Both First Place awards went to songwriters from the Canadian province: Jacob Moon of Hamilton, for his composition "The Great Beyond," and Allister Bradley of Kitchener, for his song "What a Day." Greg Hobbes of Toronto won Second Place for "Sunshine and Roses," and there were five finalists from Ontario: Bignic of Penetanguishene for "Inexplicable (v4)," John Boyd of Niagara Falls for "The Things We Said," Joe Hash of Toronto for "Stay," David Hein of Toronto for "Subway Sparrow," and Kevin Wong of Markham for "Beautifully Flawed." "This year, the songwriters of Ontario discovered us, and we're so glad they did," says contest coordinator Bill Frank. "It's great to have heard so many fine songs from Canada, because it furthers our goal of honoring the best songs of the entire Great Lakes region." The Grand Prize for the 2008 contest went to a Minneapolis songwriter-performer, Tim Mahoney. His winning composition, "Theme Song," is from his 2007 recording, "Stay/Leave." The three top winners, Mahoney, Bradley and Moon, will perform at the contest's annual Winners' Concert, scheduled for Feb. 7, 2009, at the Trinity House Theatre, the premier Detroit-area concert venue. Jacob Moon's winning song has been released on his CD, "The Loop," which was recorded live at The Staircase Theatre in Hamilton. It features Moon's trademark "live looping" technique, in which he records portions of a song while he's performing it on stage, then adds new parts on top of the recorded portion, generating the illusion of an entire group of musicians playing. All of this is accomplished with no prerecorded sounds. Allister Bradley spent 15 years developing software in the corporate world before leaving it all to play music full time. The pianist-singer has two recordings that have gathered much critical acclaim and radio airplay. His winning song is from "Too," which was released this past March. He describes his second release as "Sting having cocktails with Norah Jones, while Billy Joel and Bruce Hornsby argue over the check." When not writing, performing and recording his own material, he produces others' albums and writes film scores. He also teaches songwriting the Humber College Summer Songwriting Workshops, held at the lakeshore campus in Toronto. In 2006, he won a Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Male Singer. The Great Lakes Songwriting Contest is the largest regional songwriting contest in the United States and Canada, with 11 winners getting a variety of cash and merchandise, plus promotional and performance opportunities. In 2008, the contest attracted 600 entries from the Province of Ontario and the eight states bordering the Great Lakes. Based in Ann Arbor, MI, the contest started in 2003 as the Metro Detroit Songwriting Contest, which was organized by a group of southeastern Michigan songwriters. More information is available at the contest website, www.GreatLakesSongs.com. The Minneapolis songwriter-performer won the Grand Prize in the contest for "Theme Song," an original composition from his 2007 recording, "Stay/Leave." As well as about $3000 in prizes, he won the headliner spot at the contest's annual Winners' Concert, scheduled for Feb. 7, 2009, at the Trinity House Theatre, a premier Detroit-area concert venue. "'Theme Song' totally rocked my world," said contest judge Jodi Krangle, proprietress of the "Muse's Muse" on-line songwriting magazine and website. "I loved the writing and the interesting little twists and turns the melody took. That's an awesome song and the writer should be hugely proud." Mahoney began his music career with the high-energy pop-rock band, the Blue Meenies, which quickly made its mark on the Twin Cities music scene and at colleges and clubs all over the Midwest. From there, embarking on a solo career, he learned some of the hard but valuable lessons of the music business. In an attempt to land a record deal, he took out a second mortgage on his house and enlisted players from John Mellencamp's band. The resulting album, "3 Different Views," was his most expensive CD to make and had the lowest sales. Despite interest from almost every major label, no record deal ensued. He then recorded a solo acoustic CD, "Full Circle." It sold much better, and was his least expensive to make. Now, after 10 years in the music business, Mahoney plays about 150 concerts a year, both solo and with a full rock band. He recently won Ray-Ban "Never Hide" music contest, which led to a performance at the Rolling Stone magazine 40th Anniversary party at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas and an upcoming photo spread in the magazine. Despite the lack of a label, his CD sales have reached the six-figure mark and his songs have been played thousands of times on Twin Cities radio stations. His radio single, "(I'll Be) Here," impacts major country music radio stations across the nation beginning today. Nashville, TN (PRWEB) October 20, 2008 -- A former pro baseball player from Torrance, California, Derek Sholl is breaking into the country music big leagues with the October 14 release of his album, HERE. A tribute to everyday men and women, the songs on HERE are relatable with content ranging from break-up accolades to good time anthems, which brings the listener into Sholl's vibrant world. The album's current single, "(I'll Be) Here," produced by Chris Estes, impacts major reporting country radio stations across the nation beginning today. In Germany this week, the single has reached the #1 position in the Country Music Airplay Charts. On the heels of making a big impression at radio in secondary U.S. markets and recent print and television media exposure, the talented newcomer has teamed up with Nashville-based promotion and marketing company CO5 Nashville for radio promotion for "(I'll Be) Here" and upcoming releases. Sholl is about to embark on a multi-market radio tour (Las Vegas, San Diego, Denver, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, Lancaster and Harrisburg, PA, and Frederick, MD, among others) in support of the single. With southern California good looks, an athlete's energy, a soul-deep country voice and a no-holds-barred stage show that never fails to stop audiences in their tracks, Sholl is certainly on the fast track to the national stage. Respected music journalist Robert K. Oermann gave his DISCovery Award in Music Row magazine to Sholl for "(I'll Be) Here," an honor given to country music's most noteworthy up-and-coming artists. Sholl was recently featured on CMT Insider and the former model is featured in a style piece in the October 20 issue of Country Weekly magazine. He has an upcoming taping on the syndicated entertainment TV show Extra!, and appearances booked on major network affiliated stations in Nashville, Las Vegas, Tulsa, among other top markets. He also recently taped a fun baseball-inspired segment for GAC's Country Music Across America with host Storme Warren. Derek Sholl is a true-to-life tale of one big man, two big talents, and countless nights of dues-paying gigs that took the singer/songwriter from local bars in his native southern California to state-of-the-art stages in Vegas, to Nashville's top recording studios. Sholl recalls, "I first started listening to country music when I got drafted by the Kansas City Royals. I'd come into the clubhouse singing Randy Travis and Alan Jackson in my 'new' country voice and everybody would always say, 'Hey, that's really good.' It didn't take long for me to get hooked on the genre." After numerous injuries ended Sholl's baseball career, he dusted himself off and started picking guitar and singing requests at a local watering hole, using his regular gigs to hone his God-given country baritone into an instrument that lifts and informs every song he sings. It wasn't long before he was soon packing them into those same local clubs backed by a full band, growing from singer to entertainer. Word of Sholl's energetic shows eventually made its way down the Vegas Strip to The Mirage, where Jay Leno Page 46/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. The tracks, one of which entered the Billboard Hot Singles Sales Chart last week at #36 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales Chart at #3, are available for immediate download through major online and electronic retailers. (PRWEB) October 14, 2008 - Wiggins Music Group Worldwide, Inc., in partnership with Dyme LTD (owned and operated by funk fusion co-creator Wayne Henderson), announces the release of adult contemporary artist Jett Edwards' "Revealed (XXL)" CD single, including the tracks "Blood Oil" and "Made N America," which are being used by the Barack Obama campaign as theme songs. Mr. Edwards, a proud supporter of Barack Obama, is excited about the use of his tracks as Obama campaign songs. The song "Made N America" in particular has struck a significant chord with Americans, debuting at #3 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales Chart and entering the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart Last Week at #36. Mr. Edwards will be performing in North Carolina at Obama political events and "get out the vote" drives during October and early November. "Made N America" is a perfect song for the current period of economic strife. The song promotes the time tested concept of purchasing goods that are manufactured in the United States as a means to rebuild our country's economic strength. The song is also critical of the corrupt business leaders and politicians who have diverted huge amounts of America's wealth overseas. Jett Edwards encourages all Americans to rally around the flag and request "Made N America" be played on favorite local radio stations. "We need to work together to bring this country back into prominence," said Mr. Edwards. "There's no better way to bring folks together than via a resonating, politically relevant tune. Let's make America better by buying American made products--that's what 'Made N America' is all about." The CD single was released in a partnership between Wiggins Music Group Worldwide, Inc. (WMGW, Inc.), Dyme LTD and the artist himself. The songs are available on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, and eMusic. New York, NY (Vocus) October 15, 2008 -- Song BMG and Legacy Recordings released Johnny Cash’s 'At Folsom Prison, Legacy Edition', on October 13 and only local Folsom, California, websites have the first listen streams from the new box set. It is only fitting, since the show took place in Folsom prison, that three local Folsom sites, My Folsom ( http://myfolsom.com/), The Folsom Telegraph (http://www.folsomtelegraph.com) and Folsom Life ( http://villagelife.com/) should have first listen streams to ‘25 Minutes To Go’, ‘I Got A Woman’ (with June Carter) and ‘Folsom Prison Blues.’ Johnny Cash’s At Folsom Prison, Legacy Edition, a 40th anniversary 2-CD and DVD box was recorded on January 13, 1968, when Johnny Cash and his crew – June Carter (two months before their wedding), Columbia staff producer Bob Johnston, Carl Perkins, the Statler Brothers, and the Tennessee Three (guitarist Luther Perkins, bassist Marshall Grant, drummer W.S. “Fluke” Holland), rolled into northern California’s notorious maximum security lockup and gave a performance that changed Cash’s career arc and the future of popular music. Forty years later, the Cash archives in Tennessee continue to dazzle researchers with their riches. In fact, as rarely known by even the most ardent fans, and rarely mentioned in Cash writings until now – there were two Folsom shows performed and recorded that day: The first show, the bulk of which comprised the classic, familiar 16-song album; and a longer second show, the bulk of whose 26 tracks (except for two songs) were put on the shelf. JOHNNY CASH AT FOLSOM PRISON: LEGACY EDITION has been a long time coming, indeed. The revealing three-disc (2 CD+DVD) close-up of that day now presents the entire unvarnished 65-minute first show on disc one – expletives intact for the first time, and with seven previously unissued tracks; and the entire 75-minute second show on disc two, with 24 previously unissued tracks (out of 26). It’s topped off with a new documentary DVD – featuring exclusive footage from inside Folsom, interviews with Merle Haggard, Rosanne Cash, Marty Stuart, and former inmates who witnessed the concert, and unpublished photography by Jim Marshall. www.JohnnyCashOnline.com www.LegacyRecordings.com ### Page 52/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. Fort Sumner, NM (PRWEB) October 11, 2008 -- Mike Scovel, one of America's favorite greeting card artists, was named 2008 Cartoonist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists at their annual awards ceremony on September 23rd at the Garland Theater in Garland, Texas. The Academy was formed over a decade ago to promote, preserve and honor the cowboy and western heritage by recognizing the leaders in traditional western arts. Categories include music, poetry, arts, gear makers, spur makers, saddle makers, chuck wagon cooks and radio. Mike Scovel's artwork has been as much a part of western life as spurs, bits and saddles. For more than thirty years, the Idaho native has supplied the greeting card and gift industry with a steady stream of cowboy humor, portraying the people and perils of rural ranch life, in comedic exaggeration. His toothless cowboys, feisty ladies and swayback, jug headed horses have anchored the western humor line of greeting cards for Boulder based Leanin' Tree Publishing since 1978. Ed Trumble, founder and CEO of Leanin' Tree Publishing, says, "No other artist among the many hundreds that we have published has been represented on so many Leanin' Tree greeting cards for so many years. Many folks across the nation would agree, Mike Scovel has become, in his modest manner, one of America's truly great humorists ranking with the likes of Charles Schultz, Norman Rockwell and Dr. Seuss." One of the most diverse artists today, Scovel has found success with both fine art and what he calls "fine art cartooning." While his humorous paintings continue to gain in popularity, Scovel also does serious paintings and sculpture, both of which have won numerous national awards. His client list for monumental sculpture includes cities, private foundations and corporations. In 2003, Scovel designed and created "A Pool of Tears," the all veteran's memorial in downtown Temple, Texas. Later that year, he began work on "Duty, Honor and Country," a life-size tribute to Medal of Honor recipient, Roy P. Benavidez, for the Benavidez foundation. The bronze statue was dedicated on Veterans Day, 2004. In 2008, Scovel introduced the Historic Downtown Series, a collection of nostalgic downtown scenes from a number of areas incuding Texas, Washington and Wyoming. More paintings in this series are slated for 2009 featuring communities in Texas, New Mexico and Nevada. Scovel's work has been featured in many national publications including the Saturday Evening Post, American Cowboy, Southwest Art and Western Horseman and has been displayed in a number of museums including the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum with permanent works in the Leanin' Tree Museum of Western Art, the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. Her current tour highlights the critically acclaimed new release, Watershed, lang's first collection of original songs in almost seven years. Described as a snapshot of the singer/songwriter's aesthetic at this particular moment in her career, Watershed graciously pays homage to the musical path she has taken during the last 25 years. Lang's dedicated core following and casual fans of her chart-topping hit "Constant Craving" will all appreciate what has been hailed as her most confident and revealing work to date. Lang will perform Saturday, October 18 at 8 p.m. in the Anheuser-Busch Performance Hall at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Tickets are $100, $65, $55 and $40 and are on sale now by calling 314.516.4949, or by visiting www.touhill.org. Known for her inimitably sultry voice, country roots, and collaborations with the likes of Tony Bennett, lang ranked #33 on VH-1's 100 Greatest Women in Rock & Roll in 1999 and #26 on CMT's 40 Greatest Women in Country Music in 2002. Of Watershed, lang explains, "(it) is like a culmination of everything I've done -- there's a little bit of jazz, a little country, a little of the Ingénue sound, a little Brazilian touch. It really feels like the way I hear music, this mash-up of genres, and I think it reflects all the styles that have preceded this in my catalogue." In addition to writing and singing, the Grammy-award winner produced the album, the first time lang has taken on this additional role. James Hunter of Rolling Stone says, "Watershed is first-rate singer-songwriter music; lang fuses the various styles she has tapped -- country, pop, Brazilian -- with an alluring integration. She produced herself, and when a steel guitar waltzes in with charming rightness on the otherwise art-song "I Dream of Spring," or soulful soprano tone floods the symphonic air on "Close Your Eyes," her work sings. With Watershed, k.d. lang does what the gifted and the lucky always should: improve as time passes." k.d. lang will perform Saturday, October 18 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $100, $65, $55 and $40 and are available at the Touhill Performing Arts Center Ticket Office; online at www.touhill.org; or by phone at 314.516.4949; and toll-free at 866.516.4949. Nashville, TN and Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 1, 2008 -- Luke Powers is not your ordinary Nashville songwriter. A PhD in English from Vanderbilt University, he writes songs that owe as much to William Blake as Bob Dylan. Smart, surreal, offbeat, at times haunting--usually in 3 minutes or less. His new CD, Texasee (2008) from Phoebe Claire Publishing, LLC, is his latest collaboration with Austin-based producer and musician Tommy Spurlock (Rick Danko, David Olney and The Band). Their previous work includes Picture Book (2007) and Kakistocracy (2006). Luke's songs have been featured in the Acoustic Rainbow Sampler and Musicians for Minneapolis (I-35 Bridge Disaster Relief). Picture Book was named CD of the month by Radio Leith. The all-star group includes Kenny Vaughan (AMA Instrumentalist of the Year) guitar, Jamie Oldaker (Eric Clapton) drums, and John Davis (Superdrag) vocal, bass and guitars. Suzi Ragsdale provided stunning vocals. Luke calls her "the soul of the album." Steel guitarist Spurlock reproduces the idiosyncratic sound of his mentor Sneaky Pete Kleinow (Flying Burrito Brothers), using multiple steel parts to provide a natural sonice ambiance. Luke describes the sound, "It's an acoustic album with a little sling-blade thrown in." "I'm tired of all these warbly, navel-gazing 'Americana' songs," Luke says, "I wanted to take a more Sam Peckinpah approach." CD Highlights Include: * "Billy the Kid Rides Again" resurrects the fabled outlaw oddly at home in postmodern America * "Selmer Tennessee" is based on Mary Winkler's murder of her preacher-husband * "Aron Presley" reviews Elvis' sad slow decline from the point of view of his dead twin * "Paul is Dead" examines the urban legend that Macca was replaced by an alien-human hybrid To offset the violence, madness and paranoia, "Texasee" and "Tops of the Trees" offer a glimpse of a blessed land, maybe Heaven -- or for our purposes, Texasee. Washington, MA (PRWEB) September 26, 2008 -- Over the last four decades Arlo has toured throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia winning a broad and dedicated following. In addition to being an accomplished musician--playing the piano, six and twelve-string guitar, harmonica and a dozen other instruments--Arlo is a natural-born storyteller whose hilarious tales and timeless anecdotes are woven seamlessly into his performances. If you've been to an Arlo Guthrie concert in the past 20 years it's likely you've seen Abe's great smile, heard his adept and tasteful keyboard accompaniment along with his powerful supporting vocals. In a recent interview Arlo was quoted: "Abe is a great musician and covers the bass for me, and whatever else I need." Abe started performing professionally with his father in the early 80's. The three Burns sisters -- Annie, Marie, and Jeannie, have been singing together all their lives, at times others of their siblings joined in. Their mother Teresa, who sang in the church choir, taught them and so it began. Wild Bouquet is the eighth Burns Sisters Band album. It's an album of love, grace and understanding. It's also an album with songs that fit our times. They met Arlo Guthrie in 2004 at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Woody's hometown of Okemah, Oklahoma. This meeting sent them on a train ride with "Arlo Guthrie and Friends Ridin' on the City of New Orleans -- Benefiting Victims of Katrina" appropriately. Terry "A La Berry" Hall has been performing professionally since age 13. He toured the world for 14 years as drummer for Arlo Guthrie. He appears on 10 of Arlo's CDs and played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The White House, The Today Show and shared the stage with Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, Joe Cocker, John Denver, Willie Nelson and Pete Seeger to name a few. Terry A La Berry has been entertaining kids around the country for the past 18 years as part of David Grover and the Big Bear Band. When not busy with David Grover he tours and performs his own music and his new CD Never Be As Big As Hannah Montana, has been recently released. As a Berkshire native and sixth-generation musician, Bobby Sweet began performing at age 7 in his father's band. A sought-after lead guitarist, he has played shows with Vince Gill, George Jones, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson, The Bellamy Brothers, Waylon Jennings, and many others. He has written songs that have aired on many hit television series such as Touched By An Angel, Walker Texas Ranger, Judging Amy, and Soul Food, among others. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has recently released his fifth solo album Days Roll By to critical acclaim. Another Berkshire native, bassist Jody Lampro has played with both Arlo and Bobby in the past. In 2007 Jody teamed with Ben Hillman to work on a tune for a film about the creation of the hydrogen bomb called Bomb Squad. Arlo starts out The Lost World Tour traveling across The United States and Canada in October 2008. St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) September 24, 2008 -- Accomplished artists on their own, the pairing of legendary musicians Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby proved an overwhelming critical and popular success with their fully-realized bluegrass recording. Backed by world-class band Kentucky Thunder, Skaggs and Hornsby will perform in the Anheuser-Busch Performance Hall at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, October 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $100, $50, $35 and $25 and are on sale now by calling 314.516.4949, or at http://www.touhill.org. The Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby performance is sponsored by Emerson. Multiple Grammy Award-winner and Country Music Award-winner Ricky Skaggs has been credited with reviving interest in both country and bluegrass music. Renowned pianist and songwriter Bruce Hornsby is known throughout the music industry as a great collaborator. In 2007, Skaggs and Hornsby combined the best of Skaggs' musical talents and Hornsby's songwriting skills. The result: the Billboard chart topping and aptly named, Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby. Adding Hornsby's unequalled piano skills to the core bluegrass instruments of mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle and banjo, the accomplished pair effectively took roots music to next level. Dan Ouellette at Billboard.com wrote, "The album exudes pure fun and even opens a new window on Hornsby's hit, 'Mandolin Rain,' which the pair remakes to fit the lyrics' bluegrass bent." For their live performance at the Touhill, Skaggs and Hornsby will be backed by Skaggs' band Kentucky Thunder. Skaggs has said that he is "just trying to make a living" playing music, but it is obvious that it's his passion. The 13-time Grammy Award-winner was considered a bluegrass master by the age of 21 and has been in the business for 37 years. Country music catapulted Skaggs to popularity, but his heart belonged to bluegrass, breaking sales records and earning multiple Grammy and International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. He started his own record label, Skaggs Family Records, to focus on bluegrass and other roots music. Skaggs and his stellar band, Kentucky Thunder, have accomplished a lot in the last decade. Skaggs believes that the members of Kentucky Thunder rank among the best musicians he's ever worked with, "Each and every one of the pickers in Kentucky Thunder totally amazes me in every show...and that, to me, outweighs any award we could ever win." Hornsby is one of those rare, authentic musicians, selling over 11 million copies of his albums world wide, receiving twelve Grammy Award-nominations and playing on more than 100 records (beyond his own 10). His stylistic range is boundless, with successful collaborations with such diverse performers as Bob Dylan, Don Henley, the Grateful Dead, Stevie Nicks, Cowboy Junkies, Shawn Colvin, Bela Fleck, Tupac Shakur and more. His partnership with The Range produced the Grammy Award-winning album "The Way It Is," whose memorable title cut went on to be the most played song on American radio in 1987. Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby backed by Kentucky Thunder will perform Saturday, October 4 at 8 p.m. Gold Circle tickets (first four rows of seats) are $100, Zone 1 tickets are $50, Zone 2 tickets are $35 and Zone 3 tickets are $25 and are available at the Touhill Performing Arts Center Ticket Office; online at www.touhill.org; or by Page 81/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. Comprised of 40 interactive video guitar lessons, Modern Nashville Guitar delivers an intensive learning experience and insightful bird's eye view of both the cerebral and technical skills required to work and perform in Nashville's music scene. St Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) September 22, 2008 -- Modern Nashville Guitar, a new interactive video guitar lesson course from TrueFire and Guitar Hero Ladd Smith, guides guitar students and enthusiasts through the ins and outs of recording and performing pro guitar in one of the world's most elite music centers. "Playing pro guitar in Nashville these days is the Olympic decathlon of the music biz. You must possess highly trained ears, top-notch improvisational skills, stellar right and left hand techniques and be prepared to apply them all on a moments notice, over any style of music - and that's just to get in the door," says TrueFire's founder Brad Wendkos. "Ladd's a bonafide young master of the Nashville scene, inspired by and now ably following in the footsteps of history's greatest guitar players." Winner of Guitar Player magazine's prestigious Guitar Hero 2007 competition, Ladd Smith delivers an intense interactive video learning experience and insightful bird's eye view of the cerebral and technical skills required to work and perform as a pro guitar player both on the stage and in the studio. "I am a visual, audile and kinesthetic learner and that's how I teach as well. It's much easier to watch, listen and play along to learn and internalize new information," says Ladd. Accordingly, Smith steps you through the 40 guitar lessons in Modern Nashville Guitar +in a very cognitive fashion. Smith deliberately avoids tedious notation, theory and exercises preferring to have students play their way through the material in the course. Modern Nashville Guitar features an extensive series of "Outrun the Train" lessons, derived from Ladd's original composition of the same name (the instrumental version of which won the Guitar Hero competition). "The tune is an ideal instructional tool because it features a ton of my favorite Nashville licks and techniques. I'm able to cover a wide range of up-tempo "Tele-melee" material in an ear-friendly way with one common key, tempo and theme for ease of reference." Ladd also walks students through a variety of other classic and contemporary styles, likewise selected to serve as learning platforms for guitar lessons covering other key moves and techniques. Modern Nashville Guitar covers the Nashville numbering system, provides gear overviews with each lesson, and drills down on dozens of key skills including hybrid picking, banjo rolls, chicken pickin', chord leads, butterfly hammer-on-pull-offs, unison and pedal-steel bends, train beats, open string pull-offs, vibrato, descending double-stop runs, triad pedal-steel guitar, sliding 4th interval licks and bends, arpeggiated rhythm, contrary-motion/counter-point lead lines, pedal Page 84/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 18, 2008 -- Lofton Creek Records has just announced that the McCain/Palin campaign will use singer/songwriter Pat Garrett's new song "Moose Shootin' Mama", written about Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Just released this week, the song is being played "out of the box" on Billboard and R & R stations across the nation. Garrett's label was quickly contacted by leaders of the Republican campaign and asked if they had permission to use the song, which will be used in various ways in connection with presidential campaign activities including websites, streaming, audiovisual works, and live performance. Mike Borchetta, president of Lofton Creek Records, who signed Tim McGraw while at Curb Records, and was instrumental in the career of Leann Rimes, found out about the song in a message Garrett left on his voicemail, singing the chorus. "As soon as I heard 'She's a moose-shootin' mama,' I just knew it was something I had to jump on." Garrett, who also recorded the song, was quickly signed to a deal, and the song was distributed to radio on September 15. "Moose Shootin' Mama" is available for purchase via download or by CD single through www.patgarrett.com. The inspiration for the song was an email sent to Garrett of a photo of Sarah Palin holding a hunting rifle, and a friend's comment, "She's a moose shootin' mama!" Garrett's songs have been cut by artists from genres as diverse as the UK's popular punk rock group, Arctic Monkeys, ("Bad Woman" 2008); polka king Jimmy Sturr and comedian Charlie Prose ("Suck It In" 2008); Grammy-award winning songwriter Hoyte Axton, and singer Tommy Cash, brother of Johnny Cash, with ("Old Timers" 1998). Other political songs he's known for include "The Saddam Stomp" (2003) which hit the Billboard 100 charts, "If You Love America" (2001) written response to 9/11, from which he donated thousands of dollars in profits to the American Red Cross; and "The Monica Lewinsky Polka" (1998). ### Page 87/88 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release.
