A second 10,000 MW crash program of new power generation facilities has been launched in Indonesia. Under this second plan, 93 power plants will be developed by 2014, for an estimated total program cost of $11bn.
Indonesia’s increasing power capacity is consistent with Asia’s economic evolution. Asia’s primary production was boosted by above 5%, led by China and India. Energy consumption growth remained vigorous (+4%) as well and with 18% of the total China became the world’s largest energy consumer.
