EDITORIAL CLASSIFICATION CHANGE TABLE This table provides information about changes in classifications to the U.S. Code of earlier laws made in the course of classifying new laws from the 110th Congress and 111th Congress, 1st Session. Other changes in classification of earlier laws are made in the course of integrating the new laws into a main edition or supplement of the Code, and those changes will be accounted for in Table III (Statutes At Large) upon completion of the main edition or supplement. Column 1 Lists Code sections or notes (in Code order) affected by editorial classification changes. Columns 2 and 3 Describe the change affecting the particular Code section or note as follows: • “new” means a new section or new note. • “tr to” means the Code section or note was editorially transferred to the section or note in Column 3. • “tr fr” means the Code section or note was editorially transferred from the section or note in Column 3. Column 4 Contains the Public Law citation for the Code section or note affected by the editorial classification change. Column 5 Contains the Public Law and Statutes at Large citation for the law prompting the editorial classification change. For example, a provision set to terminate on a specific date may be amended by Congress so that the termination date is removed, thus making the provision permanent. Such an amendment may prompt an editorial transfer of the provision from a note to a section. In such a case, the Public Law removing the termination date would be cited in this column. Column 6 Indicates in which edition or supplement of the Code the editorial change becomes effective.
