Celebrating work in aphasia
Professor Jane Marshall is the recipient of the 2006 Robin Tavistock award for a major contribution to the world of aphasia. This annual award, launched in 2005 by The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia, acknowledges Jane’s work and research and its impact on the life of people with aphasia. Jane has been and continues to be an inspiration to aphasia therapists and researchers and a great support to those of us fortunate enough to collaborate with her. To celebrate this award we have asked Jane to give the ‘Robin Tavistock Aphasia Lecture’. The lecture will be on ‘Framing ideas in aphasia: The need for thinking therapy’ and it will take place at City University, London, on Wednesday the 19th of December 2007, 4:00pm. The lecture will subsequently be published in the International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders (IJLCD). We hope this will be the first of a series of ‘Robin Tavistock Aphasia Lectures’ to appear in the Journal. The talk will be followed by a wine and canapé reception, sponsored by IJLCD. The award will be presented by Henrietta, the Duchess of Bedford and Chairman of The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia. We would like to invite everybody with an interest in aphasia or indeed everybody who would like to celebrate with Jane to join us in this event. 4:00 – 5:00 The Robin Tavistock Aphasia Lecture on ‘Framing ideas in aphasia: The need for thinking therapy’ Professor Jane Marshall 5:00 Presentation of the Robin Tavistock award Henrietta, the Duchess of Bedford Chairman of The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia 5:10 – 7:00 Cocktail and canapé reception Sponsored by the International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders.
