1, I am the mother of a (i-year old daughter who has peanut and tree nut allergies that were diagnosed when she was five yearrsold. 1 would appreciate the opportunity to discuss briefly my experience with food labels and food industry representatives in connection with my daughter’s allergies. My statement would include making recommendations for changes that th.e FDA could make rhat 1 believe would simplify the daily efforts of people with food all.ergies or people who care for minors with food allergies. While I am not speaking on behLalfof a large organization or gro’up, I believe my experiences on this topic would not be atypical. My goal would be to present to concerned parties at the FDA who are considering changes an appreciation for the day-today, real-life difficulties that people with severe food allergies face because of the lack of clarity on food 1abel.sconcerning ingredients and the risk of cross-contamination in the manufacturing process.
