A copy of the audited financial statements will be provided upon request at the organization’s office. DEAR FRIENDS OF MARWEN, In 2006, Marwen continued to invest— with the wonderful generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations — in the creative and productive potential of young people through arts education. As we have done for the past nineteen years, Marwen provided free visual arts programs to teens who would otherwise not have had access to outstanding levels of instruction. Our four program divisions: Studio, College & Career, Alumni, and School & Teacher Partnerships, served 1,769 students, 316 teachers, 155 alumni, and 1,893 parents, families and friends. A number of exciting initiatives and projects were undertaken in 2006: new courses, workshops, and events were created, adding greater depth to our existing offerings; an experimental redesign of program evaluation methods was initiated; a cohesive direction for outreach and alumni initiatives was defined; and a new constituent database was developed. We also immersed ourselves in planning for the future — engaging students, teaching artists, our board and staff, and members of the arts community locally and nationally in developing a new three-year Strategic Plan. The impact of Marwen’s three-year Strategic Plan, approved in early 2007, is already being felt as we celebrate Marwen’s twentieth anniversary in 2007 of promoting youth development through arts education. Support for Marwen’s programs continues to grow, as donors increasingly recognize the significance of our programming on the lives of the students served. Strong fiscal responsibility and operational excellence continue to be cornerstones of Marwen.
