Light Arising on Jewels of the Sea - Andrea Pottyondy 09/2006 (36” X 48”)
Every time my family and I visit Whitehead, Nova Scotia, we look forward to scavenging the beaches for bits of sea glass and pottery. We are always well rewarded for our efforts. Every shiny piece I find makes me wonder about its story. Where did it come from; a toss of the hand from shore, off a cruise ship or fishing boat, or possibly washed up from a sunken wreck. Adding these sea jewels to my artwork reminds me of that wonderful and childlike feeling of satisfaction on finding a smooth piece of sea glass and tucking it into my pocket.
