HOW TO PROMOTE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH Presenting the Neighborhood Watch to residents is basically the same everywhere you go. Some agencies put more emphasis on meetings to keep the Watch going. It was discussed that holding meetings, the community is kept inform of what is happening and aware of trends. Newsletters were also discussed as away to promote the program. In Lake County, a system is established whereby all Neighborhood Watch organizations can communicate with each other either by e-mail or telephone. This is an excellent way to keep people informed. Orlando PD advises they give Neighborhood Watch signs to communities and if they do not maintain the programs, the signs are removed. Kissimmee PD repotted they have changed their program name from Crime Watch to Neighborhood Watch to promote the program. Orange County SO maintains a list of Neighborhood watch organizations and when necessary or important enough, information deemed is sent out to them directly from their Communication Center. This information on how to promote the NW program will be entered into the CFCPA Resource Guide, readily available to any member to use.

From: Jeannette Emert [jemert@mail.ucf.edu] Sent: Monday, October 09, 2006 9:18 AM Subject: NOVEMBER MEETING For November's meeting I would like to have folks meet at the UCF Police Dept located on Libra Dr and we will drive you to the Market Place. If you choose not to do this, you may still park in the South Garage. Either way, you will need to use your parking pass. If you are taking the 408, go East as far as it takes you. When you come to a traffic light you will turn right (Ingenuity) and take it to Discovery (first stop sign), turn left. Go straight at the traffic light and the road name changes to Libra Dr. Take your second left, parking in the Physical Plant lot to the right. The PD is the one level building across the parking lot (it's not in that lot, but across from it). If you are coming from the 417, get off at University blvd heading East. University will end on the campus. Turn right onto Gemini Blvd. There is construction, be careful! Follow the road going straight. You will turn right at the second traffic light, Libra Dr. Go about 1/2 mile, passing the PD on right, and making a right turn into the Physical Plant parking lot. The PD is across from that parking lot. If you get lost in the area, call dispatch at 407 823-5555 for assistance. We will provide a ride to the Market Place and back as needed.
