Clearly, as judged by the lifetime earnings to date [many are still racing and adding to their earnings], all of the starters in these three Kentucky Derbies were talented runners as the lowest earner has still earned over $130,000. Still, the GSV separated out most of the best of these talented runners, even though they may have failed to run up to their ability in the Kentucky Derby. It is not an unimportant fact that many of the horses with lesser pedigrees [lower GSV scores] are still racing and adding to their lifetime earnings. This has the probable effect of skewing the results in favor of the horses that have lower GSV scores and less appeal as stallions.
