Since it was founded in 1991, Disney Vacation Club (DVC) has become one of the highest-rated vacation ownership programs in the industry – and a prime example of how Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is growing its family vacation business by addressing a broad range of vacation experiences. DVC was created as a unique experience for guests who like to return to the Walt Disney World Resort on an annual basis and stay for longer periods of time. It has quickly grown to include a wide range of vacation offerings, with eight properties both inside and outside the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Membership provides families with a way to spend quality time together at Disney destinations worldwide, as well as more than 500 other popular vacation locations year after year.

In 2007, DVC opened the first phase of its eighth resort – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, which will be part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at the Walt Disney World Resort. The property’s 458 vacation homes are being developed in phases with completion of the project expected in spring 2009. Plans also call for construction of a new restaurant, themed pool and water-play island, fitness center, merchandise shop and sports and recreation facilities. As we continue to extend the Disney brand, in October of 2007, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced plans to build a luxury family resort on the picturesque island of Oahu in Hawaii. The breathtaking ocean-front property is scheduled to open in 2011. This is the first mixed-use resort outside of Disney theme parks, and it will have more than 800 units including hotel rooms and villas for DVC. Home-Like Accommodations Affordability, home-like accommodations and flexibility are the hallmarks of Disney’s vacation ownership program and have fueled the popularity of DVC. Disney Vacation Club was doubled since 2004 to serve more than 350,000 individual members from more than 100 countries and every U.S. state. Members access their vacation club ownership through a highly flexible point system that allows them to tailor vacations to their personal needs.
Disney Imagineers have begun architectural designs for Disney’s first family resort outside of its theme park developments. Disney’s Hawaiian Resort is expected to open in 2011.
Through DVC’s four distinct collections of exciting Member Getaways, members can use their annual allotment of vacation points for a wide variety of vacation experiences worldwide, from Disney theme park hotels and Disney Cruise Line sailings to Adventures by Disney vacations and renowned hotels in the world’s most desired destinations. Beautiful Beach Locations While a variety of activities can be found at all the DVC resorts, the company’s properties that are located outside Walt Disney World Resort offer programs that are just for children, as well as a series of activities designed to bring families closer while they have fun and learn. These programs take advantage of the beautiful beach locations in which Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort are situated. From dolphin tours through the Carolina waterways to freshly prepared meals by a private chef to sea turtle nest walks along Florida’s coast, these DVC resorts offer their own special kind of magic for each member of the family. In 2006, DVC reached a company milestone, with more than 100,000 member families having made a long-term commitment to Disney-quality vacations. Community Contributions Disney Vacation Club Cast Members are committed to actively participating in the communities in which they’re involved. Guided by the company’s vision, which sets forth the idea of “a community so magical that every cherished friend and guest will want to be part of it,” DVC Cast Members have donated time and resources to programs such as the Coalition for the Homeless, Head Start, Boys & Girls Clubs, Junior Achievement and various county councils on aging. At the Vero Beach and Hilton Head Island resorts, Cast Members have shown their commitment to the environment by regularly participating in coastal cleanup events and partnering with wildlife groups to educate themselves and others on the importance of maintaining our natural environment. DVC resorts also actively sponsor Disney’s Wildlife Conservation Fund. Disney Vacation Club Established: October 1991
