STEP 1-
1. Read this entire packet PRIOR to filling it out.
2. PRINT CLEARLY in blue or black ink.
3. Fill out packet. USE FULL NAMES - including
   middle, maiden, and all former last names.
4. Use your current residential street address.
5. Complete all pages of the packet.


STEP 2- You need to return the packet to the:

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSE
     WHAT ARE THE REQUIRMENTS FOR APPLYING FOR A C.P.L. ? (RCW 9.41.070 (1))
1.   Thurston County resident or Out-Of-State resident.
2.   21 years of age at time of application.
3.   United States Citizenship or have a valid Washington State Alien Firearms License.
4.   No convictions of any crimes listed on the back of the application form.
5.   No court order or injunction against possessing firearms.
6.   Eligible to own firearms under RCW 9.41.040 and 9.41.045
7.   Not pending trial, appeal or sentencing on a felony offense.
8.   No outstanding warrants for ANY charge, from ANY court.
9.   No order to forfeit firearms within the last year.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PROCESS THE CPL APPLICATION ? (RCW 9.41.070.(1))
1. Up to 60 days for current county and state residents, up to 90 days for all others.
2. The approved CPL will be mailed to the applicant at that time.
IS THE CPL VALID IN OTHER STATES ?
1. With few exception others states are not legally bound to honor Washington State CPL.

HOW LONG IS THE CPL GOOD FOR? - 5 (five) years.

CARRYING FIREARMS :             RCW 9.41.050 (In Washington State only)

(1) Except in the person's place of abode or fixed place of business, a person shall not
carry a pistol concealed on his or her person without a license to carry a concealed pistol.
(2) A person shall not carry or place a loaded pistol in any vehicle unless the person has a
license to carry a concealed pistol and: The pistol is on the licensee's person, the licensee
is within the vehicle at all times that the pistol is there, or the licensee is away from the
vehicle and the pistol is locked within the vehicle and concealed from view from outside
the vehicle.
 (3) A person at least eighteen years of age who is in possession of an unloaded pistol shall
not leave the unloaded pistol in a vehicle unless the unloaded pistol is locked within the
vehicle and concealed from view from outside the vehicle.

“Every licensee shall have his or her concealed pistol license in his or her
immediate possession at all times that he or she is required by this section to
have a concealed pistol license and shall display the same upon demand to
any police officer or any other person when and if required by law to do so.
Any violation of this subsection (1)(b) shall be a class 1 civil infraction
under chapter 7.80 RCW and shall be punished accordingly pursuant to
chapter 7.80 RCW and the infraction rules for the courts of limited

      CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSE - FALSE STATEMENTS
REFERENCE: RCW 9.41.070 PARAGRAPH 12
A. A person who knowingly makes false statement regarding citizenship or
   identity is guilty of false swearing under RCW 9A.72.040.
B. In addition to any other penalty provided for by the law, the concealed
   pistol license of a person who knowingly makes a false statement shall be
   revoked, and the person shall be permanently ineligible for a Concealed
   Pistol Licensee.

State law: On July 1, 1993, Washington State made it unlawful for you to possess a firearm or
concealed pistol license if you have been convicted in any court for domestic violence assault.
Federal law: Federal law makes it unlawful for you to possess a firearm if you have been convicted
in any court of domestic violence assault (felony or misdemeanor), regardless of the date of
conviction.

A person is not considered convicted if the person has received a pardon or has had his/her firearms
rights restored by the appropriate court. This does not include ‘Certificates of Rehabilitation’
issued by Washington courts.
Caution: Although state and local laws do not differ, federal law and state law on the possession of
firearms may differ. You may be prosecuted in federal court if prohibited under federal law from
possessing a firearm. A state license is not a defense to a federal prosecution.
The application fees for a Concealed Pistol License are non-refundable. If you are not sure you are
eligible to possess a firearm, we encourage you to contact an attorney before to submitting an
application for a Concealed Pistol License.

 Note: A signed application for a concealed pistol license shall constitute a waiver of confidentiality and written request that
 the Department of Social and Health Services, as well as mental health institutions and other health care facilities, release
 information relevant to the applicant’s eligibility for a concealed pistol license to an inquiring court or law enforcement agency.

                        WASHINGTON STATE PROHIBITIVE CRIMES
1.   Conviction or adjudication for any felony offense committed in this state or elsewhere.

2. Any of the following crimes when committed by one family or household member against another, committed
      on or after July 1, 1993:

         * Assault in the fourth degree              * Coercion                           * Stalking
         * Reckless endangerment in the second degree               *Criminal trespass in the first degree
         * Violation of the provisions of a protection order or no-contact order restraining the person or excluding
         the person from a residence.

CAUTION: Although state and local laws do not differ, federal law and state law on the possession of Firearms
differ. If you are prohibited by federal law from possession of a firearm, you may be prosecuted in federal court. A
state license is not a defense to a federal prosecution. Federal law additionally prohibits the receiving of a firearm
by persons who are unlawful users of, or addicted to, narcotics, or other controlled substances; persons of unsound
mind, adjudicated as mentally defective, or who have been committed to a mental institution. Federal law also
prohibits persons receiving firearms who have been dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces, aliens
illegally in the U.S., or anyone convicted of, or under indictment for, a felony crime punishable by imprisonment
for a term exceeding one year, to the extent that the law of the state of conviction bars possession of a firearm.
Local laws and ordinances on firearms are preempted by state laws and must be consistent with state law.
