Breakfast - The Best Meal of the Day

Breakfast - The Best Meal of the Day Doctors, politicians, and the media: they all tout on how the healthiest people in our country all eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What most people don't realize is that it can also be the best. It is important to start our day on a healthy note, this way we can give ourselves a head start and feel good all day.  So if you start your mornings at a fast food joint or dinner, where you are given a heaping plate of pancakes, eggs, potatoes, and bacon, it is time to turn over a new leaf. Breakfast cannot be too sugary, too fatty, or carbohydrate filled.  To avoid this, there are several things you need to do: ·        Either wake up a few minutes early in the morning, or prepare your breakfast at night so that you are not rushed in choosing the easier, unhealthy breakfast options ·        Go to the grocery store and buy a large variety of breakfast foods, so that your breakfast routine does not become boring ·        Enjoy your breakfast time But this does not cover what some interesting breakfast options you can choose from to make breakfast the best meal of your day.  One of my favorite breakfast meals is good old fashioned oatmeal.  Oatmeal is like rice or pasta, you can put anything on it, and it will always taste great. Try putting flaxseed, blackberries and walnuts into your oatmeal mix, to create a sweet breakfast without a lot of sugar or fatty oils. This gives you a serving of fruit, some extra fiber, and a easy start to your day as it only take about 10 minutes to create this meal. For something a little more interesting, why not try scrambled tofu. And no, that is not a typo, try scrambled tofu for a healthy breakfast than scrambled eggs, and be amazed by how good it tastes.  Add anything you want to the mix, but I would suggest onions, peppers, soy sauce, and garlic. Out of the frying pan, onto a piece of healthy whole wheat toast into your tummy. If shakes are more your style, try a high protein shake. Soy protein powder is the best solution to add to your shake. Use skim milk, your choice of fruit, oatmeal, almond butter, and ice. Blend it up, put it into your to-go cup, and get to work on time in high style.
