Recently the following message came from Gyatrul Rinpoche concerning the war in Iraq:
ʺEverybody pray for the Iraqis that are dying and others, animals and all sentient beings rather than being against
the war or fighting for things ʺmy way. “ Rather than that, shut up and practice. That is way of Buddhism.
Shakyamuni didnʹt teach ʺmy way,ʺ or the ʺAmerican way.ʺ He taught compassion for deluded sentient beings
suffering. OK. Tashi Delek.ʺ Gyatrul Rinpoche
Thank you, Rinpoche, for your guidance. These days at Tashi Choling it’s blooming with spring

This month Guru Rinpoche Day commemorates when the king of Zahor attempted to destroy the
Guru by burning him alive; he then transformed the fire into a lake, called Rewalsar–Tsopema, and
established the Dharma in the land of Zahor, taking Mandarava as his consort. He was then known as
Guru Chime Pemajungne.
Our friend and translator from last year, Gyalpo, sends greetings from Canada… “Hello! That
was a very good experience I had with everyone at Tashi Choling. I miss it there and wish you all well.”

Brothers, I want to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all the prayers, transportation help,
and yummy suppers you brought me while I was incapacitated with a broken ankle. It was such a great
help to me. I’m doing quite well and getting around again. Hope to see you soon. Lots of love, Dianeʺ

The Buddha’s Jewels... “We wander in cyclic existence because we confuse that which is
without a personal identity for that which has a personal identity. Similarly, we grasp onto phenomena
other than self as having true inherent existence whereas, in fact, there is none.” Gyatrul Rinpoche, from

Contemplation of the Month
In our class, we will delve a little more deeply into the mechanics of meditation,
drawing from several traditional sources. By so doing, we will identify problems and
limitations with our meditation so that we can make more rapid progress. A variety of
techniques from various Buddhist traditions will be taught and developed to explore the
various ways they benefit the mind.
This class is open to anyone who has taken one of Bruce’s classes or by arrangement.
Our objective is to give practitioners an opportunity to check back in, clear up doubts or
obstacles that may have crept into their practice, regain their momentum and inspiration
through a renewed contact with fellow practitioners, and, of course, to continue to progress and
deepen their meditation.
