Individual Budgets & Self-Directed Support Update for LDPB
What is Self Directed Support?
Self Direct Support gives people the opportunity choose their own care and support services.
There are 2 different kinds of Self Directed Support 1. Direct Payment. • This could be used to pay a Personal Assistant to help you with your care. 2. Individualised Budget. • This can be made up of a Direct Payment and other money like ‘Independent living Fund’ or ‘Supporting People’ money.
What have we done so far? • We have set up a group to help us work out what we need to do.
What else? • We have found a way for Individual Budgets to work. • We have now got a step by step guide to Individual Budgets and a leaflet for Service Users.
• We have learnt that we need to keep Advocacy and Brokerage support separate. • Interact will not be providing a service anymore.
• We are looking at working with ‘Circles of Support’ in West Sussex for Brokerage Services. • And the Federation for Disabled for Direct Payments. • We have 2 people starting an Individualised Budget.
• We have started to tell people with Learning Disabilities, their Carers and Providers about Self Directed Support options.
What is next? • We will continue to learn about Self Direct Support. • We will start the process with 8 other people. • We will keep the Partnership Board up to date with our progress. Any Questions?
