Give Your Nominee the Winning Edge!
• Every nominee for the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship
is the best candidate in his or her university.
• To stand out in this group, a candidate must be
  exceptional.
With this in mind, here are a few things chapter
officers can do to give their nominees a
                 “winning edge.”
           2007 Fellowship Program
• Publicize! Publicize! Publicize!
• Encourage your nominees to apply to and attend
the very best graduate and/or professional schools
  available to them.
• Remind students and colleagues that the
application is online – PhiKappaPhi.org. The
  application must be typed.
• In addition to the application form, there is helpful
information on the Phi Kappa Phi website.
          2007 Fellowship Program
• Encourage each student to make the package as
  strong as possible.
   * Every word in every section should count.
   * The personal statement should have a “voice”;
it should convey a sense of the writer, as well
as a sense of the value of the writer’s research
     and/or service activities.
   * Make sure that the entire package has been
     spell-checked and proofed!
          2007 Fellowship Program
• This fellowship is in support of the first year of
  graduate/professional study.
• Nominee must be an active member of Phi
Kappa Phi (dues paid by March 31st) at the time
the application is sent forward or be among
those initiated in the upcoming spring ceremony.
• A chapter’s nominee need not have been
accepted to graduate or professional school at
the time the application is submitted.
