     2009 FOOD SAFETY TRAINING AND TESTING SCHEDULES

MCHD provides three levels of food safety training:

   Food Worker Training (a.k.a. “a food worker’s card”) is required for every food worker in the
    county;
   Food Manager Training is required for at least one manager at every food establishment;
    and,
   Person in Charge (PIC) Training is available to help establishments comply with the food
    code requirement of having a knowledgeable person in charge at all times.

MCHD also offers three types of food safety testing:

   Food Worker Competency Testing allows those with a working knowledge of food safety and
    the food code to “test out” of Food Worker Training.
   Food Manager Competency Testing allows those with extensive knowledge of food safety
    and the food code to “test out” of Food Manager Training.
   Temporary Food Worker Worksheet allows establishments to comply with the MCHD training
    requirements between scheduled food worker classes.

Classes and test sessions are held at the Health Department. MCHD is located at
453 Van Voorhis Road, behind Fieldcrest Hall and Centra Bank. The training

center is located on the lower level. Capacity is limited to 100 on a first come, first
serve basis. Parking is free, but can be limited on busy days. Classes start
promptly, so be on time. Photo ID is required! Cash, checks, and credit or debit
cards accepted.
