Haunted House Tradition Continues
San José Downtown Neighborhood Celebrates 15 Years Of Frights & Festivities
Event: When: Where: 15th Annual Washington Community Haunted House & Festival Saturday, October 27th 5:00PM - 9:00PM Washington United Youth Center 921 South First Street San José, Ca 95110
Background: The Guadalupe-Washington Neighborhood will be organizing it's 15th Annual Washington Community Haunted House & Festival. The event features a maze-like Haunted House with over 15 different scare booths. Outside, parents & children are invited to participate in carnival games, arts & crafts, music, pumpkin walk and a photo booth with monsters. In 1993, after the fatal death of a parent during a drive-by shooting in front of Washington Elementary School, concerned residents, a business owner & school principal organized the 1st Annual Haunted House & Festival with help of generous funding from Los Amigos de Washington (Friends of Washington) a small group of retired Rotarians who participated school community events. This event has grown from a budget of $1,000 to over $3,000 and with close to 1,000 people in attendance This event is funded by the following agencies: • Community Action & Pride (C.A.P.)
