                                 SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC INDICATORS

This template is comprised of socio-demographic indicators derived from census tract data and
health reports. You will need to use E-stat in order to find the data. These indicators include both
socio-demographic and health indicators that can inform you about determinants of health related
to your community. You need to negotiate with your project consultant what information and data
he/she would like you to include in your report. Each student in the group will select one of the
census indicators, make a graph write a brief description, define the selected variables, and
interpretation (see sample graph attached). This will be part of assignment # 2. In addition,
each of the graphs etc. will be appended to your final project report.

Definitions of Census indicators can be found in the Census Dictionary. Please be sure to
consult the dictionary. To find the Census Dictionary please use the following url:

        REQUIRED SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC INDICATORS
        Reading the table:
 Individual Indicators column: the indicators that you must find for your report
 E-Stat Language column: the language that you will need to use in order to find the
information for that indicator when using E-Stat. E-Stat uses specific vocabulary for their
variables so be sure to use the exact language and punctuation from this column
             when using E-Stat.
 Grey boxes indicate the type of indicator
 In some instances, you will have to calculate percentage.
