2455-1 (DLSE 3-2 Ops and Trg) 12 February 2008 All TSWG Delegates NATO TRAINING AND SIMULATION WORKING GROUP (TSWG) 1/08 ADMINISTRATION INSTRUCTION – DRESDEN, GERMANY 14-18 APRIL 2008 Reference: Record of Proceedings of TSWG 2/07 Tallinn, Estonia 17 -21 September 2007. BACKGROUND 1. The NATO TSWG 1/08 will be hosted by Germany in the city of Dresden from 14 to 18 April 2008. NATO and PfP delegates to the NATO TSWG are formally invited to take part in this conference. AIM 2. The aim of this instruction is to provide administrative information to national delegates for the NATO TSWG 1/08 meeting in order to initiate planning and permit national delegates to confirm their administration requirements and to prepare for the meeting. OUTLINE PROGRAM 3. Agenda. The draft agenda for the NATO TSWG 1/08 is at Annex A. Any member who wishes to add an item to the agenda or to make a presentation during a particular item is requested to notify the Secretary prior to 31 March 2008. 4. Conference Facilities. Accommodation will be at the Holiday Inn in Dresden. TSWG meetings and seminars will take place at the Officer School of the German Army (OSH) which is located at the Albertstadt Kaserne, Marienallee 14, 01099 Dresden. The usual laptop and projector will be provided in the conference room. Fax, telephone facilities and internet access will be available in the conference area. 5. Updates Required. All delegates are requested to review their respective parts of the following NATO TSWG catalogues and provide any required updates to the secretary prior to 31 March 2008: a. b. The NATO TSWG Catalogue of Simulation Systems; and The NATO TSWG Catalogue of National Simulation Policies
6. Current versions of these catalogues that have been provided by each nation are available online at the NATO TSWG website at http://www.army.dnd.ca/tswg/main.asp. 7. Working Group Focus. The focus for this NATO TSWG will be on completing integration of C2 systems into the EDI matrix and continuing work on NATO LVC requirements. It is also intended to introduce discussion on the use of Serious Games by the member nations. To that end we are looking for volunteers to present any available papers on integration of Serious Games into the

training flow. Anyone prepared to contribute such a presentation should let the chairman and secretary know by 31 March 2008. 8. In addition to being prepared to engage in exchange of national views and positions on the working group focus, nations are requested to provide a short (10-15 minute) update/overview on simulation use in their respective armies. HOST NATION DAY 9. The proposed program is incorporated into the agenda at Annex A.
SECURITY FOR SITE VISIT 10. Delegates should follow national procedures for arranging travel and clearance to Dresden. For the site visit delegates will be required to wear the issued name badges and be prepared to provide the following details: a. b. c. d. e. f. DRESS 11. The dress for the working group will be national combat uniform. Dress for the Meet & Greet Cocktail Party, the Informal Dinner, the Cultural Tour and the Formal Dinner is listed in the agenda. ACCOMMODATION 12. Booking. 25 rooms have been reserved at the hotel for TSWG members. When booking rooms, members are to mention that their booking is against the TSWG reservation. Apart from the occasions listed at Annex A, delegates will be responsible for providing their own meals throughout the working group. MOVEMENT DETAILS 14. Delegates are responsible for making their own way to Dresden. Delegates traveling by air should land in Dresden Airport and then can either hire a car at the airport or take the taxi to the hotel. Hire cars can be picked up at the airport. A map of Dresden showing the location of the hotel is available on the hotel’s web page. FUNDING 15. Responsibility. Delegates are responsible for funding their own travel and subsistence. The Host Nation will fund the following: a. b. c. c. d. Ice Breaker Monday 14 April 2008; Coffee breaks Tuesday to Friday (15 to 18 April 2008); Lunches from Tuesday to Thursday 15 to 17 April 2008 (spouses not included); The NATO TSWG Formal Dinner; and Visit Day and Cultural Tour.
16. Conference Fee. A conference fee of 100 euros will be payable by each delegate to the Host Nation Administrator on arrival. A receipt will be provided for this amount. This fee is charged to assist the host nation in offsetting the costs of hosting the working group. Please also note that this amount should be paid in cash only; no checks or credit cards can be accepted. TSWG INFORMATION PACKAGE 17. Individual information packages containing the NATO TSWG final agenda will be placed in each delegate's room. The Host Nation Administrator will provide maps and tourist information with the package. SPOUSES PROGRAM 18. There is no formal spouses program. However delegates who wish to bring their spouse are asked to confirm this on the Registration Form at Annex B. Spouses are welcome to attend the Informal Dinner, the Cultural Tour and Formal Dinner, but members may need to pay additional fees if their spouses attend these activities. CONTACT NUMBERS 19. CONCLUSION 20. NATO TSWG 1/08 promises to be a most valuable opportunity to exchange relevant information on training simulation.
