Minutes of the December 04, 2007 Professional Development Committee The primary discussion was workshops for the Spring Conference. The Spring 2008 conference will be held in the Hampton at the Holiday Inn – Hampton; registration is expected to be $140.00. Nancy Jackson brought to the committee a charge from a member of the League. There is a request for BPRO to develop a mentoring program for new supervisors. After a lengthy discussion, it was the decision of the committee that is not a project in which to be involved. The following are workshop ideas/suggestions for the 2008 conference; Permanent Resident Aliens VIEW for Supervisors Organization at Intake Claims Supervisors – New Worker Training Who Wants to be a Millionaire Caseload Sizes Joint Workshop(s) about Elder Food Stamp Participation Team Building Food Stamps, TANF, Medicaid – How to Get Along
Members of the committee were given assignments to contact presenters for the various topics and report at the next meeting on progress. It is the plan of the committee to have the workshops in place several weeks prior to the conference to prevent last minute problems.
