Review the E-Mentor Match packet with your assigned Student Mentor or Protégé(s) profile information and E- Mentor Handbook. If you have problems downloading the e-documents or files, please contact us immediately at mentor@u.washington.edu or (206) 543-7132 for a hard copy to be mailed or picked up.
Join the new OMA/D Mentor Program “Facebook” for up-to-date information, event details, and easy access to mentoring program materials and stay connected with mentor/protégé teams! Get Connected & Confirm “Mentor Kickoff” Attendance – Wed., October 1st , 6pm-8pm at Kane Hall #130

1Week One, School Starts!

• Review your class schedule, put on your running shoes and have fun! • Purchase textbooks and class packets at the U-Bookstore on The Ave or local copy centers.
2Week Two, Get Connected!

Wed. 10/1:”Mentor Kickoff” Event (Mandatory)
•Time to Meet! Contact your mentor partner and confirm their attendance to the Mentor Kickoff Event in Kane #130, 6pm – 8pm, catered reception and time to get acquainted with your mentor and protégés…FOOD, FUN & YOU! • Schedule your next get together for coffee/lunch, IMA or favorite UW hangout. • Check out mentor calendar of events and other UW/Seattle activities to attend together.
3Week Three, Keys to Academic Success
Mon. 10/6 – Fri. 10/10 (10/10 – Tuition Due) ◦ Meet for coffee/bubble tea on The Ave. Discuss the 1st week of classes & how to manage rigors of college life & fun. ◦ Visit Instructional Center - 1307 NE 40th /Brooklyn – awesome tutors in math, science, econ, English, psych & more! ◦ Set-up weekly study sessions, invite your mentor partner to join you. Identify instructional needs & campus resources ◦ Review “Tips for Academic Success”& attend “Study Smarter” workshops (www.depts.washington.edu/scc/academic.html) ►10/8 (W) 5:30-8pm“Mentor Game Night” HUB Game Rm, Enjoy Bowling, Billards & PIZZA w/mentor participants
4Week Four, Academic Check-Up
Mon. 10/13 – Fri. 10/17 ◦ Check class syllabus for assignments, readings & upcoming quizzes, tests & papers. Start early and strive for balance by managing your time, schedule study, work & fun! ◦ Talk w/your mentor about classes, majors, study tips, student clubs & interests. ◦ Touch base with your EOP/SSS adviser in Schmitz Hall about your classes & UW experience. 10/15 (Wed) 3:30-5:30pm, MGH#258 - “Got Personality … Understanding Personality Types and Learning Styles” Workshop – Be EMPOWERED and learn about your unique personality type, communication and learning styles based on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). All participants will take the MBTI personality type assessment via our online system, one week prior to the introductory workshop. FREE professional career assessment for mentors/protégés.
5Week Five, Stay Cool & Prepared
Mon. 10/20 – Fri. 10/24 ◦ Get organized for midterms. Prioritize tasks & schedule study times at IC & Clue. ◦ Feeling stressed w/school? Contact your mentor for support, they understand! 10/22 (Wed) 10am-2pm, MGH Commons Area, “UW Study Abroad Fair”- Travel the WORLD and earn UW credits. Check out global opportunities & scholarships to study abroad in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin & Central America, United Kingdom and more! **Meet Amy HyunAh Pak (amypak@u.washington.edu), OMA/D Global Opportunities Advisor to discuss your study abroad options and learn about OMA/D’s Brazil, Rome and other int’l programs.
6Week Six, Plan Ahead – Winter Quarter Registration
Mon. 10/27 – Fri. 10/31 ◦ 11/7 – 11/21, Winter quarter registration begins! Check online for your official registration date. ◦ Talk w/your mentor about recommended classes for majors/general ed, and other topics of interest for W09. ◦ Schedule appt w/your EOP/SSS adviser to plan your W09 classes, call 206/543-7132 – attend OMA/D Academic Group Advising & Planning Sessions during weeks 11/3- 11/14, Time/Location-TBA.

10Week Ten, Ten Yard Line – Countdown Begins!

11Week Eleven, Go Huskies – Power Up for Finals!
Mon. 12/1 – Fri. 12/5 • Come prepared for late night study sessions at the IC, CLUE & libraries. YOU CAN DO IT! Stay energized & focused on the goal! • Pace yourself with studying & more studying – take coffee/tea & meal breaks and get some rest. Remember, you will do better with a clear mind and rested body!
12Week Twelve, Finals Week – You Can Do It!
