Blu Mar Ten [Klute / Stray] : Natural History Remixes Part 2 : Blu Mar Ten : 12"
Where the album version of „By The Time My Light Reaches You I'll be Gone‟ was slow and contemplative, Klute
grabs it by the scruff of the neck and gives it a good shake-down with a frantic percussion section while maintaining
the strong melodies and progressions of the original. The result is a stunning blend of subtlety and impact, pe rfect
listening whether you're on the dancefloor or off it. Continuing his high -speed ascendance, d&b's new kid on the
block, Stray, justifies the hype with his superb rendition of „If I Could Tell You‟. Hammering the original components
into a richter-scale headnod, the aggression of his beats is beautifully offset with a subtle yet umissable
reinterpretation of the bassline. Sounding completely different to virtually anything else in the genre, Stray's
irresistible remix has been waking up sleepy clubs all over the world, and must now rank as having one of the highest
"what's-this-tune-m8?' ratios on the circuit right now. A genuine ear-worm [8/16/2010]

Bulletproof & Concord Dawn : Whiskey Tango / The Sum of All Things : Uprising : 12"
Concord Dawn continues to impress as he unleashes a slew of new releases in the build up to his new album 'The
Enemy Within'. For Uprising's 23rd release he enlists the help of fellow Antipodean Bulletproof to roll out two sublime
slices of drum & bass that do not disappoint. 'Whiskey Tango' brings some classic Hardware vibes with twisting
techno riffs, skipping beats and syncopated bursts of bass. Flip over and 'The Sum Of All Things' goes for a more
epic and euphoric vibe. Gradual building synths are layered with warm pads before a winding LFO seals the deal.

Engine Music are back with an absolute beast of a record from D&B‟s finest, Break! Slick artwork as always from the
Engine boys, who are also responsible for all the fine Subtitles Music artwork which has surfaced over the years. This
is classic Break, loud bashy and ultimately danceable, don‟t sleep on this one, it won‟t hang around for long!

Gein & Mayhem / Silent Killer & Breaker : Ghetto Dope / 6 Feet : Human Imprint : 12"
Human Imprint, North America‟s respected drum and bass label, is excited to present the HUMAN CHEMIS TR Y EP
by Milwaukee-based producer trio Gein whose reputation for a sound is as mental as the infamous Wisconsin serial
killer is legend. In the tradition of revered UK dnb producer Technical Itch, Gein ( Abel Gein aka Adam, and Saint
Gein aka Ronnie) articulates the twisted reaches of the human soul with bold originality. Human Imprint head honcho
Dieselboy enthuses “Gein has cultivated a truly unique, homegrown, North American techno grime sound -- nasty!”
“Ghetto Dope” -- explosive dnb rooted in an old school hiphop vibe -- is a collaboration with respected Atlanta
producer/musician Mayhem. The track‟s laser precise hard tech thrust fused with Gein‟s bloodcurdling sickness
make “Ghetto Dope” pure dance floor crack. Gein joins forces on “6 Feet” with a cclaimed Brooklyn producers Silent
Killer and Breaker, with a wicked sound that combines inpspiration from military movies, hard east coast hip -hop and
a form of hardcore called 's creamo'. The track is well known for its huge bombastic intro that morphs in to wave after
wave of raw drum and bass pressure.. [8/16/2010]

[NONPL US007]
Vaccine : Ochre / Cascade Failure : Nonplus Records : 12"
Nonplus 007 sees the Californian based producer Vaccine make her debut on the label with a brace of tracks in her
signature style of rich musical textures and ingenious drum arrangements. With a wealth of releases on labels such
as Hotflush and Tempa, its safe to say that quality control has never been an issue for her and this release is no
exception. a) Vaccine 'Ochre' - The a-side 'Ochre' with its scratchy lo-fi beats and rugged gliding bassline is textbook
Vaccine. An abstract looping vocal brings an almost soulful edge to the track but it still remains tense and gritty
throughout. Doing damage in clubs across the world but just as relevant at home, this track will stay in your playlist
for the long haul. aa) Vaccine 'Cascade failure' - Slightly mellower than the a-side but on more of an emotive tip, this
track plays with orchestral "Burialesque" chords and melodies and really makes you get your thinking cap on. Once
again her trademark lo-fi beats and percussion swirl around in seemingly effortless complex patterns, with laye r upon
layer of chords and melodies the track has so much depth its almost impossible to take it all in with just one listen. A

[NONPL USL P001]
ASC : Nothing Is Certain : Nonplus Records : 3x12"
Since his first appearance on Nonplus, ASC has been hard at work on his LP and its finally here. Starting with a 12”
sampler he dives right in at the deep end with „Phobos‟ in which electronic grooves and micro samples entwine
against a backdrop of dramatic tones and industrial hits. Followed on the same side by the atmospheric hiatus „Oort
Cloud‟ you have a good inclination of the impending album by now, but are also treated to the AA-side „Matter Of
Time‟. Like a continuation of his debut Nonplus 12” track „Porcelain‟, his crafty use of oriental sounding percussion,
windlike sounds and melodies combined with an efficacious bass lin e make this track very hard to listen to in its
entirety before you reach for the reset. The album touches on many genres from start to finish such as the 4x4
offering of „Textura‟, or the almost indescribable step of „Yatta‟, but one common theme that this album holds
throughout is the amalgamation of influences derived from all genres of music and ASC‟s ability to combine these to
create something new and unique. Collaborations with fellow Nonplus artist Vaccine and Exit Records artist
Consequence add fuel to the fire, keeping it burning hot from start to finish. Nonplus Records proudly
present............ASC – “Nothing Is certain” [8/16/2010]

handle it. The badboys of New Zealand dubstep team up for their first single on Argon Records. Bombay Sapphire

The latest releases from a Producer famous for his persistent abuse of 4x4 convention, Scratcha DVA presents the
New World Order EP on his own DVA Music imprint. Showcasing 4 tracks from a range of Producers the EP opens
with a pair of brand new Scratcha DVA productions. The title tracks bomb shelter rave dynamics combine spiraling
synths, warm organ stabs and heaving bass tones to apocalyptic effect while its companion „Schizophrenic‟ lives up
to its name, alternating a floor filling 8 bit 2 tone skank with churning Grime synths at their most sour. Th e flipside
offers up Roska ally Uncle Bakongo‟s brutally stripped down take on Soule Power‟s „Lost‟, pairing industrial strength
drums with decaying vocal snippets and brooding keys before a last minute change of pace resolves the vocal
tension. S.Chu‟s rounds out the EP with a reworking of his „Quickfoot‟, fully equipped with a slow burn bass line and
shimmering synth arpeggios. [8/16/2010]

Matt Green : Marked For Death #2 : Marked For Death : 12"
Double A side release from London based artist on this dark Dubstep label inspired by early 90s sampling culture.
First tune up is a dark and heavy stepper with sinister vocals drenched in echo. Mutated basslines sit nicely under
face slap snares. Flip side is a nice roller that never lets up, a chunky bassline plays off the relentless beats while
paranoia samples bring on the THC induced psychosis. [8/16/2010]

[NONPL US008]
Kassem Mosse : We Speak To Those / Hi Res : Nonplus : 12"
Hailing from Leipzig in Germany is an artist who‟s music has been pricking up many ears across the global
underground over the last few years. It‟s hard to put a finger on what it is about Kassem Mosse‟s productions that
make repeated listening a must, but the intricacy, fresh arrangements and musical depth definitely play a part in
attracting labels such as the highly respected techno imprint Workshop, the legendary Soma Records and now
Nonplus are honoured to present his latest 12”. a) Kassem Mosse - „We Speak to Those‟ First up on the a-side we
have „We Speak to Those‟ a 4/4 track of the highest quality that keeps you guessing from start to finish. The rugged
and raw kick and bassline immediately set the foundations for the incoming awkward chord stabs whilst reversed
beats lazily slur in and out over the main groove giving the track the unnerving feeling that its almost changing
tempo. Random sound effects and a non conforming arrangement make this track about as predictable as the
English summer. One listen to this and you‟ll immediately understand why this artist is getting love from some of the
scenes biggest players at the moment. aa) Kassem Mosse - „Hi Res‟ Phased drum machine breakbeat patterns and
stutered percussion redolent of the early Detroit techno uprising give this track an outstanding quality of being able to
conjure up the same feelings of hope and optimism for electronic music that the aforementioned era managed to.
Thought provoking chord progressions take your mind on an excursion to the future and leave you gagging for an
extended trip. Think skyways, flying cars and towering metal buildings footed with dark abysmal underworlds and
you‟ll get the drift. They don‟t come much deeper than this one. [8/16/2010]

Mungos Hi-Fi / Top Cat & Jacky Murda [Tes La Rok] : Wickidness / Drunken Master :
Noppa : 12"
Tes La Rok's first release in 2010 sees him returning to his own Noppa imprint with two massive remixes. Wikidness
remix has already gained anthem status. The dubplate has been championed by a selected few DJs for the last 12
months. The tune combines roots -reggae with dubstep and adds an ounce of jungle vibes for extra flavour. Tes La
Rok delivers a true natty dredbass remix. On the flipside you‟ll find his remix of one of the legends in the game. Top
Cat's "Drunken Master" is certainly going to be one of the summer anthems of 2010. Rolling beats and sub -heavy
bass combined with Top Cat lyrics is a sure shot combination to fire up the dances. One of the most anticipated 12"
releases from the northern warrior Tes La Rok. [8/16/2010]

[BROCK028]
Backdraft & Fox : Pon A Knife / Ring : Bassrock : 12"
Long standing veterans of the underground dance scene "Backdraft" make a welcome return to Bassrock Records
with a totally fresh sound from what you'd normally expect! The trademark bass is still here but the style has
definately taken a nasty turn! "Pon A Knife Edge" see's the vocal talents of one of Manchesters' finest MC's "Fox" his
laid back slung style flows over the Dark Duos ruff beats creating a moodily uplifiting heavy bass hitter. "Ring" on the
other hand is straight up filth, a tasty hybrid crossover tune that will satisfy heads from plenty of Genres, already
gaining massive support from both Breaks & Dubstep scenes this versatile heavy roller will keep all crews happy.

Al Tourettes : When I Rest I Rust / The Next Meal : If Symptoms Persist : 12"
ISP is proud to present Al Tourettes, highly regarded by the likes of Appleblim and Maryanne Hobbs as one of the
most inventive and innovative producers around at the moment. Al makes his debut for If Symptoms Persis t with 2
fresh tracks of quality electronic machine funk! Combining many elements from Electro, Techno, Dubstep and
Electronica, his music is characterised by complex polyrhythms, gritty sub -bass, and extreme digital effects
processing, all bound together by a heavy dose of funk. "Al's live set has to be seen, up there with Shackleton for a
great example of people really playing a live set rather than just pressing play on a pre -cued mix...am smashing his
tunes on a regular basis!" - Appleblim "I've got a s erious crush on this boy, definitely one of my fa vourite producers

“„Switched‟ has all the elements of a festival anthem; lush old-skool piano chords, soaring diva vocal cuts and huge

[VOOM USIC002]
Raiden & Khanage : Voodoo 2 : Voodoo Music : 12"
We are proud to bring you Voodoo Music 002. After the success of debut release from head honcho Raiden, Voodoo
comes correct once more for the second release. Two tracks from Raiden & Khanage that continue the ongoing
collaborative partnership between the pair that has seen releases on Renegade Hardware & Offkey- and now its the
turn of V002. The tracks have been supported by Doc Scott, dBridge, Loxy, Rockwell, Genotype, Morphy & Data
amongst others. Here is the lowdown. Amnesia Haze: The track began life at 2am on a pitch black winters night in
Tallinn after Raiden & Khanage had been worked on 'King Stays King' and the 'Mirage Remix'. After a break in studio
time listening to Jeff Mills' most abstract works the track began to roll out. Guided by the substance that the track
takes its name from the pair wanted to create a brooding, sinister tribal banger- and without a doubt achieved this.
Pounding sub bass, rolling percussion and haunting strings all add to the picture, the word Voodoo could not be more
any appropriate when it comes to Amnesia Haze. The track ignited the flame that is voodoo music. 8798: Encouraged
by the reactions to 'Haze' Raiden & Khanage followed up with 8798 - The perfect tune to pair with Haze. The track
carries a stark vibe, driven by percussion, tense drum work and accents and effects that further add to the landscape
of the track. In contrast to the te xtures of 'Haze','8798' carries on a single minded mission. Underpinned by a bass
that is 50,000 leagues below- 8798 moves along with weighty confidence as a result of the rumbling frequency. The
brief was very clear from the very beginning for these two tracks - to come with something that was unmistakably
voodoo, bringing you a complete picture of what the label represents, and without having to put that into anymore
words than we have already - We think you know. a Raiden & Khanage - Amnesia Haze b Raiden & Khanage - 8798

[WARM017]
Seba : Never Let You Go / This Is Our House : Warm Communications : 12"
Not many producers in drum & bass or music in general can have the sort of career where every piece of music that
comes out of their studio is pure excellence. Sebastian Ahrenberg is one of the few musicians that fits easily into the
category of excellence. And while he might not have releases coming out every month, you can be certain when his
music is released, fans are in line drooling. A. NEVER LET YOU GO A solid & punchy two step pattern kicks things
off with shuffling clicks and sets things up nicely for this ethereal beauty! A deep as the sea reese drives the tune
along before we are introduced to the most sublime vocal beckoning us to touch her soul. If you love Seba‟s recent
output ie…Return to Forever or Painted Skies, then this one is definitely for you!!! AA. THIS IS OUR HOUSE House
samples in drum & bass? That‟s unheard of! Actually we all know that‟s incorrect, but when done by Seba it takes on
a different meaning. Giving a huge nod back to the oldschool, we see Seba delving into pure house inspired drum &
bass. Shuffling drums with added chop switch-ups along with pulsating bass rolls the tune along. The classic vocal
“Let there be house” commands us and keeps our attention leading up to the amazing breakdown. Cascading
arpeggios along with the extended sample make this a great tune in a wa y only Seba can pull off! a Seba - Never Let

TRG : Tower Block / Beton Brut : Hemlock Recordings : 12"
TRG drops the bpm but stands tall for his first outing on Hemlock. Eschewing any notion of 'feminine pressure' in
favour of a new stripped-back, brutalist sound. A- Side „Tower Block‟ Straight-estate and 808s. This is the sound of
Croydon, Sheffield and Detroit past, demolished and re-built in Cosmin's unique style. On the flip „Beton Brut‟ Let's
get brutal. An unsteady climb through some seriously dark space towards a pounding climax. Straight-up his most
bare and jacking tune to date. a TRG - Tower Block b TRG - Béton Brut [8/9/2010]

[NSDX005]
Freestylers [CTRL Z / Flux Pavilion] : Cracks feat. Belle Humble : Never Say Die : 12"
For the fifth and possibly biggest NSD release to date, we welcome back the act, who helped kick off the label in such
fine style, the mighty Freestylers. Aston Harvey & Matt Cantor are dance music legends and remain two of the
busiest djs on the circuit. Following on from the massive Ruffneck ‟09 and their self-titled E.P earlier this year, we
bring you a taster of what to expect from their forthcoming album material. „Cracks‟ ft Belle Humble (Ctrl Z Rmx)
When Ctrl Z heard the haunting vocals in the original version of „Cracks‟, they instantly demanded that they get their
hands on the stems to put their own stamp on it, the result is devastating. Inspired by the forward thinking sounds
coming from the likes of Subfocus, Noisia & Feed Me, Ctrl Z have created a genre blurring fusion of dubstep, electro
& fidget house. Impossible to pigeonhole, this remix is being supported by djs as diverse as Foamo and Krafty Kuts,
who has been opening his sets with it and High Rankin and Trolley Snatcha who has been using it to close his!
„Cracks‟ ft Belle Humble (Flux Pavilion Rmx) Josh Steele aka Flux Pavilion has been making serious waves in the
dubstep scene and beyond, and understandably so, he is one of the most talented producers we‟ve heard in a long
time. Continuously re-writing the rules of dubstep production, Flux has managed to achieve the perfect blend of
musicality and dance floor destruction in his remix of cracks. Since airing on his exclusive Radio 1 mix in April, the
track has become one of the most sought after dubs of the year. [8/9/2010]

Reso w/ Vent Remix : Technetium : Audio Phreaks : 12"
Reso is back with his stunning debut release on the heavy weight kings of bass, Audio Phreaks! Reso has been busy
in the studio putting the finishing touches of his highly anticipated first album release on Civil Music and I for one am
more excited than a youngster on Christmas Eve to hear what will be the final presentation! Technetium is an
onslaught of twisted baselines and futuristic mutilations of sounds that Reso is so well known for. It really does sound
like something you would hear in space! The track does drop into 100bpm that sounds fresher than an organic piece
of lettuce picked on a summers day!!! Vent ha ve done the remix on the flip justice! Vent give it there signature twist
on beats and don't sway too much from the original. Its just as stonking as the original, but both have something
different to offer [8/9/2010]

Colombo : Heep Hoop / Swing Along : Ibreaks : 12"
Every now and again an artist comes along with the firepower to genuinely shake up a scene. As anyone who has
heard his storming productions with fellow Spaniard Kultur will know, Colombo is one of those producers. Heep Hoop,
which heads up his new release on iBreaks, is a genuine "oh my gosh" moment, a funk-fuelled peaktime bomb with a
303 line to have em reaching for the lazers. On the flip, Swing Along is a more laidback affair, harking back to the
early days of nu skool breaks, with plenty of spacious sounds, atmospherics, blips and gnarly bass tones. Both tracks
are immaculately produced, essential purchases for any discerning DJ with a taste for supremely classy breakbeats.

Outrage : Twisted : Backlash Records : 12"
Fifth release for Outrage's Backlash Records imprint, and the funk has no sign of ceasing! We've got two dynamic
plates on this one, and the fiery "Twisted" kicks things off. In his no -nonsense approach, this cut wastes no time in
getting to the point: once the infectious bass is introduced, its go time! It's an understated menace, with not too many
elements mucking up the pressure - just snappy drums, a rumble of a bass and some interesting twists and turns to
the main theme. Bombastic, try it on a ready crowd. On the flipside, Outrage goes a bit deeper with "New Faces",
bringing in a sinister growl and pairing it up with a bouncy bassline. Feels like the effects of a drug, blood rushing,
lights skittering, all colors awash, and all you see are a sea of new faces . Welcome to the future. a Outrage - Twisted

[CRIT 046]
Stray : Erase / Locked Up : Critical Music : 12"
Bringing yet more total refreshment is Kasra's Critical movement with what is yet another example of superlative
A&R'ing skills. Stray is a name that's surfaced previous ly on the Critical Sound album and more recently as a bonus
remix on Sabre's LP but this is his first solo single release and as you can imagine with fans like Gilles Peterson
waiting in the wings, it' s most definitely a keeper. 'Locked Up' is a welcome s hot in the arm for drum & bass heads
and electronic fans alike. Fusing techno and 80's sensibilities over a razorsharp break workout, it's absolutely
phenomenal. Balearic, beautiful and thoughtful music that manages to straddle the dance floor/home listeni ng divide
with ease with its soothing piano lines, simple lead and rumbling bass. One to sit and watch the sunset to, then get up
and dance once the lights go down. Things get darker on the flip with 'Erase'. A life -support bleep rings from the start
under cinematic strings and pads with a sparse break until an eerie soundscape dropout creeps us all out. Then back
comes that break and a walking bassline as Stray starts to play with our minds dropping in some fierce old -skool edits
and a synth line straight out of a horror film to make for an utterly compelling slice of experimental drum & bass. DJ
support from Goldie, Logistics, Kasra, Nutone, Spectrasoul, Friction and many more. [8/2/2010]

Nick Sole [Atmos Deep] : Beautiful Day EP : Fauxpas Musik : 12"
The third and final part of our coloured vinyl trilogy comes again as a limited edition and handnumbred. This time
NICK SOLÉ (Mojuba) drops three classic US deep house flavoured tunes. On the A side the musical journey is called
"Earth" - steadily flowing and evolving and sometimes even getting lost in it's melodies and harmonies while it keeps
pushing forward with it's hint of dub technoish spices. On the flip we have "Beautiful Day" which seems to be the
perfect soundtrack for a long long sunny summer day or morning. Imagine the sun rising above some trees on the
horizon and this track played out loud after a long dark night. Finally we have "You Are My Life" as a bonus track to
finish of our trilogy! It's dedicated to bring some colour, joy and friendliness into your life or set! This time the artwork
has been done by cialex, who is the man behind the flyers of famous "Golden Pudel Club" in Hamburg and the

Doctor P / Trolley Snatcha : Badman Sound / SlowDown : Dub Police : 12"
Dub Police continue to release s ome of the scenes most in demand tunes and this single is no exception. The man of
the minute Doctor P steps up with a serious club banger in the shape of 'Badman Sound', which has gained huge

bass, tonk beats and a serious catchy lead that you will be singing for days after; all combined to make this one
massive track! The flip side doesn't take any prisoners either, but this time it's the turn of the man who spends way
too much time hanging around outside supermarkets; Trolley Snatcha. Featured on the Scion A/V & Dub Police CD,
'Slow Down' will already be well known by a lot of you eager dubhunters out there with it's relentless basslines,

Adam Jackson AKA Kidkut has played a major part in Bristol's music scene over recent years with his Immerse label
releasing consistently outstanding music from the likes of Kontext, Beng a, & Late to name but a few. Now Jackson is
teaming up with leading imprint Apple Pips for the release of his own much awaited debut single. Apple Pips is the
brainchild of Laurie Osborne AKA Appleblim who has made the label one of the most desirable dubstep/electronica
imprints out there featuring music from Martyn, Ramadanman, Brackles, Instra:mental & more. Kidkut's single kicks
off with the pointedly titled 'ILove04', a percussive roller that combines elements of broken beat, UK Funky, & early
dubstep, with snippets of garage vocals and intense twisted bass. The arrangement cuts and flows perfectly,
chopping between rhythms and melodic parts with the breakdown giving a definite nod of the head to oldskool
hardcore. The flipside sees Kidkut going totally tropical with the magnificent 'Lilt', a percussive workout built around
intricate drums and rolling bass that underpin the euphoric summer inspired synth lines. Bringing to mind the stripped
down work of Karizma, this is sure to go down well with the Funky heads, indeed Bok Bok is already supporting the
tune. Early radio and DJ support coming from Sinden (Kiss FM), Toddla T (Ninja Tune/Radio 1), Mary Anne Hobbs,

P.U.D.G.E. : Idiot Box : Ramp Records : 2x12"
Although you may not have yet heard his name, P.U.D.G.E. has been bubbling up in U.S. beat scene for many years.
At age 9, his father gave him a Bass, a Juno synth, a DX drum machine and a Tascam 4 track. He encouraged the
boy to start making his own music; P.U.D.G.E. got the bug. By the time young P.U.D.G.E. (thus called because at
school he was always extra medium, or less than chubby) hit 13, he had discovered turntableism , and started DJing
at house parties around NYC. By his late teens, he had emerged as a promising emcee, standing next to many of the
well-known emcees from the Lyricist Lounge; including Mos Def & El P. Still producing, P.U.D.G.E.'s music was
starting to gain attention, and his first beat was released on the Vinyl Junkies debut EP. After hearing about the
emerging beat scene in L.A., he moved there in 2004, and started getting a few production credits under his belt,
including cuts for Rawkus Records and Stacey Epps. After circulating some of his instrumental beat tapes, interest for
P.U.D.G.E. started to gain momentum. Early this year, P.U.D.G.E. headed up All Cty's L.A. series, on a split 10" with

acclaim and attention of genre impresarios like Appleblim (Apple Pips / Skull Disco), Headhunter (Tempa), Jus Wan

label, British based alternative label Saigon Recordings and Deca Rhythm already signing tracks from him, all due for
release in 2010 making this a very busy year for Orphan101. His live DJ sets have gained a reputation on radio and
in clubs as a new diverse sound with little or no boundaries to what he will play. His sets do not sound out of place
whether it be minimal house, techno or dubstep This approach has recently earned him a residency in Berlin, Bristol
and also Apple Pips nights across Europe. Saigon Recordings was established in early 2010 after the discovery of
some truly unique talent hovering in-between the Techno and Dubstep circles. Operating out of the South of England

Koan Sound / Koan Sound & Asa : Coast To Coast / Hesitation : Screwloose Records :
12"
Bristol boys KOAN Sound tracks are synonymous of dark gripping basslines that tear dance floors apart. . 'Coast to
Coast' fits the filthy profile. The bassline is unpredictably sporadic and diverse and sounds like Batman beating up a
rapist in a fucked up Philip K. Dick inspired dystopian future. Seriously. It makes me feel like I'm being subjected to a
Voight-Kampff test whilst Harrison Ford tries to figure out if I'm a robot or not… 'Hesitation', a collaboration with
Southampton's downtempo maestro Asa, is a beatifically tranquil track driven by celestial vocals and lo-fi garage
inspired drums. a Koan Sound - Coast To Coast b Koan Sound & Asa - Hesitation [8/2/2010]

Commodo : Querky : Untitled! : 12"
Commodo returns to Untitled! after his track "Green Piece" was featured on the very first release. Already supported
by top dj's Youngsta, Benny Page, Cyrus, Distance, Joe Nice, Tunnidge and Mary Anne Hobbs amongst others, his
rise in the dubstep scene will continue in 2010. A - Querky An intricate drum pattern that continues to progress
throughout the track (featuring some of the craziest cowbell patterns out there) lay the founda tion. But the main
attraction lies within the dirty bass workout and the subtle applied atmospherics that keep a tension and more
importantly an interest for the listener. This tune builds on the legacy of some of those timeless '96 drum and bass
classics. B - The Rec Room This excellent piece of 140 BPM jazz is a stand out track from the very first notes you will
get to hear. Double bass interplays with the most delicate drum programming. From waterdrops to fingersnaps to
piano chords, this piece of music has it all by the bucketload. a Commodo - Querky b Commodo - The Rec Room

Tiga [Martyn / Efdemin / Mathew Jonson] : Gentle Giant Remixes : Turbo : 12"
(martyn, efdemin, mathew jonson rmxs) the latest in a series of remix 12 -inches from Tiga's 2009 album Ciao!,
featuring some of the most respected and sought-after producers in dance music taking on the most respected icon
in dance musi When a song means a lot to you personally, having it remixed is a lot like sending your child to
undergo plastic surgery. In this case, though, it was like having the operation performed by doctors you respect as
musicians. This is most likely my fa vorite track off Ciao!, and the response I've gotten from fans seems to suggest I'm
not alone. They come up to me and say, "Tiga, that was an amazing game of racqu etball, but the real reason I'm here
is to tell you how much "Gentle Giant" means to me." And it's not uncommon for my sports goggles to fill up with salty
blue Gatorade tears, mainly because I thought we had been playing squash. Some may claim that the re mixes on
this release are too diverse, that they strain the acceptable boundaries of what's eclectic and what's too hectic to sex
with. And to that I say, "You can't shame the Rebel, dog. You can't e ven try." [8/2/2010]

Duncan Powell : Pushing : 2nd Drop Records : 12"
An underground legend with releases on MJ Cole's personal label, Profile, Reading lad Duncan Powell offers a
classic slice of, as Jackmaster (Wireblock/ Numbers) described it, "James Bond Step". A big string laden anthem. A
goldmine of musical elements, Pushing was ripe for the remix treatment and as Falty DL was a big fan of the original,
and as we were a big fan of him, set him to work stripping back the cacophony of melody transforming Pushing into a
dark, broken 2-step swinger with flashes of vocals and strings, to awesome effect. Played and supported by the likes
of Modeselektor, Peveralist, Diplo, Simbad, Desto, Sinden, Mary Anne Hobbs among others. The guest illustrator on
this release is Audrey Rogers, a fine artist/ illustrator with a visual style which quickly resonated with the 2nd Drop

Klute : Music For Prophet : Commercial Suicide : 3x12"
Triple coloured vinyl, Klute‟s first album in 2 years titled „Music for Prophet‟, on his own „Commercial Suicide‟ imprint.
As on his previous albums, Klute stays true to himself with another non -commercial, yet 100% dancefloor friendly
longplayer that – just like his excellent dj sets – offers the right balance of musical tunes alongside some real heavy
hitters. Tom Withers, started back in 1994, i think when he was asked for a name to keep exclusive to Certificate 18
records when they agreed on 2 tracks to be his first single. It was there he stayed until 2000 when he delivered his
2nd final album for Cert 18 called Fear Of People. At this point in time Tom decided to make a change and realising
no one else was interested in releasing his music decided to set up his own label. With his own platform set up he
realized anything was possible, he could even release music by other idiots. Which he did. Perhaps too much. An
interesting fact no one knows about Tom Klute is that he is the world‟s leading composer of Airp ort music. Most of
you who‟ve travelled the friendly skys will have unknowingly heard his works at one time or another. Now we come to
2010 and Klute is ready for fucking more, and more it is with his 6th album “Music for Prophet”. All of Klute‟s previous
albums have been released to critical acclaim and this one will not stand behind, showing that Klute‟s consistency as
an artist reaches into 2010 and beyond. The album which also features a collaboration with Dom & Roland will be
released as triple coloured vinyl, 2 X CD and Digital download. The additional CD & digital download package
promises bonus material including techno tracks. a Klute - Know How To Get There b Klute - Fools Love c Klute -

Serial Killaz : Worries In The Dance : Killa Dubz : 12"
Serial Killaz return with the next release on their own Killa Dubz imprint. Worries Inna Dance is a 2010 re -rub of the
classic Jungle track. Originally produced for DJ Ron's label, this is now seeing a release on Killa Dubz and not a
moment too soon. This one has been getting massive attention on dub with all the usual suspects smacking it in the
clubs. Two versions are supplied here - the Revival Mi x keeps the arrangement close to the original while updating
the production levels. While on the flip, the Rockers Mix sticks to it's roots with all the familiar samples being held
together with a rolling Amen break to give an authentic up to date Jungle feel. DJ support has come from Hype, Nicky

Rockwell : Full Circle / My War : Shogun Audio : 12"
The phenomenon that is Rockwell is back and this time he's been elevated to Shogun Audio status! Usually an artist
would have to bide their time on Sgn:Ltd before releasing on the daddy label but not this time, such is the largeness
of Tom Rockwell's music. You have been warned, this release spells danger - do believe the hype! * 'Full Circle' is a
dynamite track that has been ramped up already by so many DJ's that never before has the Backdrop office
receieved so many requests for a track ahead of its release. Rockwell revels in his originality that until now has seen
his other formidable releases keeping one foot in the leftfield whilst the other tries to dance. This however sees both
feet firmly on the floor as he lets rip with frenetic percussion and his already trademark compressed bass and
thumping kicks. Something quite special and another breath of fres h air for the D&B scene. * Flip it over and hold
tight once more as the sounds of 'My War' line you up and shoot you down with some sinister bline advances but a
more minimal vibe than its predecessor. No snares here, just synthetic pops and warped mid -range that combine with
military precision to create another awesome piece of super-tight drum and bass from Mr. Rockwell. [7/26/2010]

Melodic element (as there‟s nothing I hate the most than these stupid dark tracks that have no melody on them and
it‟s all about noise and no key notes), the Latin element (coming from Venezuela , savage grooves just have to be
there), the Industrial element (yup, I like noise, with melody, but always a reason behind my tracks sounding so
overcrowded), and obviously the Metal element, since I‟m stuck using minor thirds, fourths, fifths, diminished fifths, or
ninths, and a lot of amp simulators to add that organic tone in my reeces and leads. That pretty much sums it up.
Melody. Latin. Industrial. Metal. [7/26/2010]

[EXIT023]
Digital : Weatherman / Shanty : Exit Records : 12"
This golden era heavyweight is still in the game and as strong as ever. Having produced some of the finest trac ks of
the Drum n Bass golden era and recorded for labels including Metalheadz, Photek productions, Reinforced and
Phantom audio to name a few, he‟s still at it and in fine form once again. Sticking to his guns and keeping his original
bass heavy dub style, he‟s rolled out two tracks in the same vein as some of his classics such as Gateman and
Deadline. If you don‟t know about Digital yet then its time to get to know. If you do then know your in for a treat.
„Weatherman‟ comes with the ridiculously fat sub bass that Digital is renowned for, topped with a half time step and
shuffling hats and shakers to add pace its not far off being an all out dub track. Classic jungle pads and delayed dub
vocals pay homage to days gone by and prove that this music, when done properly can still smash up a club without
all the mid range madness that is more common in this day and age. Digital teams up with Scottish Producer Morphy
on the b-side and again comes with the heavyweight bass, half time step and dub vibes but this tra ck has a more
hypnotic and entrancing quality to it. Dub stabs and laid back melodies wind around the bass like a snake being
charmed out of its box. All in all the perfect partner to the aside and completes the 12” as yet another slice of history
is made by this legend. a Digital - Weatherman aa Digital & Morphy - Shanty [7/26/2010]

[FRJ007]
Various : Frijsfo Beats Volume 2 : Frijsfo Beats : 12"
„Frijsfo Beats Volume 2′ is the second various -artists EP from the eponymous label, marking a fruitful two years in
existence. Promise was recognised from the start in the pages of The Wire magazine among other places. Since
then, support for Frijsfo‟s open-minded aesthetic has grown, with FACT magazine, Boomkat and DJs such as Ben
UFO, Pangaea and Tomb Crew getting behind vinyl releases from Sully, Ed D MX, Point B and Kuoyah. The EP
opens with a first for the label in a contribution from Geiom, responsible for the Berkane Sol label, as well as material
for the likes of Skull Disco, Deep Medi and Planet Mu. Here he irresistibly reworks the lead track from Kuoyah‟s
recent EP, raising a sweat with a stepping drum track and eking out key changes to expertly tighten u p the cinematic
drift of the original. Sully is a regular on the roster – championed by everyone from Dusk + Blackdown to Sinden –
and he appears on „Volume 2′ with „Saviour‟. Originally distributed as a free download, here the track receives the
properly mastered vinyl cut it deserves, maximising the effect of an intense bass exorcism in classic 2003 style. His
unique talent for bewitching future 2-step beats is also in full effect, allied to trademark ricocheting samples and a
glowing chord progression. Point B continues to unearth hidden connections between Drexciya‟s militant funk and the
rhythmic flex of 2-step garage. If his gift for rewiring disparate conventions seems to create knotty musical puzzles at
first, as with his previous work for Frijsfo – not to mention diverse releases on Combat, SCSI-AV and Orson – it
always makes complete sense by the end. Rising Nottingham -via-Bristol producer Sclist ties up a few threads with a
remix of a cut from „Frijsfo Beats Volume 1′. His version of Lewis Hunter‟s „Cut From the Wreckage‟ was previously
included on his digital EP for Frijsfo, which followed a stand-out release for Whistla‟s L2S Recordings. Surgically
enhanced breakbeats and trademark mechanised glitches take things into angular, suspensefully paced territory in
suitably unique fashion. a1 Kuoyàh - Angels Dub (Geiomix) a2 Lewis Hunter - Cuts From The Wreckage (Sclist Mi x)

Noah D : My Vitamin Pillbox Nikes / The Love : Rwina Records : 12"
The eighth release of the infamous Rwina Records is brought to you b y Noah Dickinson, better known as Noah D, or
perhaps Noah Deezy if he happened to have a Paul Wall grill in his mouth. His 2009 megahit "Seeeriousss" slammed
almost every imaginable chart all over the world and established as an all -around talented and respected producer,
covering the whole spectrum of sounds from food for thought to dancefloor smashers. This time, the bass music
legend from Portland (USA) delivers two deeper-edged cuts spilling over with street-smart bass swagger, a bit-for-bit
perfect match with the type of music that Rwina has been pushing lately. On the A-side, "My Vitamin Pillbox Nikes" is
an arresting combination of gully sounds from the block and forward -thinking programming that'll tickle your brain
each and every time you put this one on. The subs are one of a kind and the g -funk synthline expertly recalls the
West-Side Connection glory days: bow down! On the flip, "The Love" dispatches a tender message straight from the
heart, contrasted with a rough melody and harsh drums that'll make you question what sort of undertones lie beneath
this tune. All things said and done, Noah D delivers a unique and fresh release that's a must for the deeper heads out
there or the party-hardy jocks that want to spice up their sets without losing the impact. a Noah D - My Vitamin Pillbox

Roland w/ Rob Sparx / Cyrus / Roommate Rmx : Clunka : Massey-Rogers : 12"
Roland Massey aka Roland from North Carolina, USA makes his vinyl debut with "Clunka" featuring remix support
from Rob Sparx, Cyrus, and Roommate. On the A-side, Roland's original cut kicks off with a subtle melody and
playful percussion, soon erupting into a wave of distorted polyrhythms and pulsing sub. Rob Sparx strips the melody
with his remix, intertwining some of his filthiest sounds to date colored with eerie textures. First on the B -side is Cyrus
with his deeper cut, utilizing the melody and vocal sample to the fullest against his brooding beat, which evolves into
an epic second drop. Roommate then layers thick sub wobble in his version with an intense buildup and cleverly
crafted LFO patterns that beautifully compliment the offset beat. Different breeds of dubstep from around the globe
come together here making this a release not to be missed! [7/26/2010]

[REQ001]
Babylon System / Matt U : Our Moment Victim : Requiem : 12"
The first release from Requiem sees the return of San Francisco's Babylon System with Our Moment, a tune that has
been on heavy rotation for the past 2 years, including being featured on SPL's seminal Hollow Point Podcast. The
boys have updated this for 2010 dancefloors, with a heavy hitting mixdown, rolling midrange trickery, raved out pad
washes and a military grade drum sound. Powerful. On the flipside we have Hungary's Matt U with Victim, a bleak,
darked out stepper that pulls you into its meditative groove with hypnotic midrange stabs, staunch drums and some
serious bassweight. Watch your back, this one will creep up on you. Both tracks have been mastered by studio
overlord Tech Itch and have had support from DJ's such as Headhunter, SPL, Excision, Riskotheque and many
more.. [7/26/2010]
