How to register on the PTFS website
Appointed Representative Process
  1. Go to www.personaltouchda.com

  2. Click on ‘New User Click Here’

  3. If this is your first to the site you will be asked to complete a registration from and
     submit back to us.

  4. You will need to choose your own Username and Password – Your password must
     contain one capital letter and one digit. E.g. House1.

  5. Choose your own 4 digit PIN Number.

  6. Enter your personal details

  7. Enter your Security Question and security answer

  8. Click Register

 An email will be sent to you informing that a response will be generated within 24 hours
                                        (weekdays)

2.Obtaining an Agency

On requesting first quotation, please tel: 01273 208788 and speak to an intermediary advisor. Inform the
advisor you are a member of PTFS and request that a sub-agency be set up under the PTFS master
agency No: 12460.

The intermediary advisor will discuss the quotation with you and send you a copy via email together with a
new business application form.

You will also receive separately, by email, an Intermediary sub-agency application form. Please complete
and return together with the completed new business application, these can be faxed or sent via email to
save delays to brokercontracts@bupa-intl.com or 01273 866585.

Bupa INTL on receipt of the completed application will set you up on their system. A contract will then be
sent to you for signing. Once again return by e-mail or fax to save delays.

On receipt of the signed contract your sub-agency will be activated. NB. New business applications will not

5. Distance Learning
Health-on-Line believe that having an innovative product with excellent service standards is not enough. It
is also important to have easy access to training and technical support, which is why we have created the
first interactive 'Distance Learning Programme' in the PMI industry.

Once selected, the PMI Quote Engine will open onto the customer details page. This
will be pre-populated with any Client data you have entered in Toolbox.

You can now select the type of cover required. The system will default Single /
Couple / Family / SPF depending on the combination of information from Toolbox
but you can change it here.




You will need to enter the number of years No claims discount and choose whether you wish to include or
exclude London Hospitals from your quote.

When you are happy with the data click continue to get your quotes .

Quote Results

When the list is first displayed all products are shown but you can rapidly shorten the
list of results to meet your client preferences by filtering on the type of product
(Basic, Standard or Comprehensive) and the Excess values required.




Holding the mouse over the icons in the column here will display any notes associated
with the product.

Click ‘Customer Details’ on the left hand menu to go back and alter the data entered
earlier.

Click ‘Re-quote’ to create a further copy of the quote record for this Client should you
wish to create further permutations.

Click ‘Comparison Print & Save’ to save this quote and view the comparison of the
features available with all products on the system. This will open as a pdf in a new
window and if necessary you can print the document. A copy of the document will
automatically be saved on the Toolbox compliance summary so there should be no
need to take a local copy. The quote results are locked.

The Save and Apply option does the same as Comparison Print & Save except that the
document is not opened. A copy will be saved to Toolbox however.

You can execute as many quotes as you like. Any that you save will have a
comparison print document saved in Toolbox

Applying for cover
When you have saved a quote the following screen is shown with an option toly” alongside
the selected products

Provider details

The system will now provide all relevant details for the provider chosen (AXA in the
example below). It also explains what you need to do to get a formal quote from the provider and what you
need to do to apply for cover.

As and when PMI providers have the technical links available for direct integration we will enhance this part
of the system.

You can use the ‘Save and Apply’ button that is available on the same page to create a
policy record on Toolbox. Initially the status of the policy is proposed but you can
update that as and when you have a policy number.

Note that once a policy has been created in this way on Toolbox, the set of quotes that
you have created are view only and cannot be updated. You will need to create a new
sales work flow in Toolbox whenever you wish to generate a further quote for the
Client – possibly at anniversary

What is covered and what is not?


         When looking at cover, it is useful to know that treatment is categorised in the following way.

There is a large variety of schemes available - from low cost schemes, offering limited cover, to those which
offer wide-ranging cover and benefits. Most schemes offer cover for in-patient and day-patient treatment,
but not always out-patient treatment.

You will need to decide what sort of cover you want. There are a number of things your clients will have to
consider. Here are just two examples.

        Do you want your cover to include seeing a specialist as an out-patient?

        Do you want a choice of hospitals, or would you be satisfied to receive any treatment that you might
         need in a hospital available from a limited range chosen by your insurance company?

Remember, PMI is designed to cover treatment for curable, short-term illness or injury (commonly known as
acute conditions). Some illnesses and treatments are never covered and these are common to most
schemes.

Drug abuse, self inflicted injuries, out-patient drugs and dressings, HIV/AIDS, infertility, normal pregnancy,

cosmetic surgery, gender reassignment (also known as sex change), preventive treatment, kidney dialysis,
mobility aids, experimental treatment, experimental drugs, organ transplant, war risks, injuries arising from
dangerous hobbies (often called 'hazardous pursuits').

Types of PMI Cover
PMI plans are normally offered with three options of cover


              Basic                            Standard                         Comprehensive


Basic

This is normally the most cost effective option. With a basic plan, only limited cover is provided and it
usually excludes out-patient cover. Generally therefore, consultant's fees, diagnostic tests and
therapies and out-patient treatments are not covered - unless this results in a later in-patient stay.

As well as being suitable for clients on a basic, these plans also suit people who are able to cover the
costs of areas such as out-patient consultations themselves.

Standard

Standard plans normally provide full inpatient and a number of outpatient treatments including
consultations and diagnostic procedures. Complementary medicines may also be covered up to
certain limits. These schemes are attractive to a broad range of people looking for PMI but the number
of hospitals available may be limited.

Comprehensive

Comprehensive schemes will pay for in-patient treatment, outpatient specialist consultations,
diagnostic tests and scans. Physiotherapy and complementary therapies are usually covered too.
These are top of the range plans suitable for clients wanting complete peace of mind.

The costs of all of the above schemes can be reduced by taking out voluntary excess or by paying
premiums annually.

Underwriting
If your client is suffering from or has had an illness (known as a pre-existing medical condition), this may not
automatically be covered should they take out a PMI policy.

Insurers use two methods of underwriting to establish what conditions may be excluded:

       Fully Underwritten (Medical History Declaration).

Full medical history details are disclosed on the application form. Any on-going medical condition or one
that is likely to recur may be excluded permanently or for a period of time.

       Moratorium (deferred cover for a pre-existing condition)

Your clients do not need to complete a medical questionnaire with moratorium underwriting.
The insurer will automatically exclude any pre-existing conditions that you have received treatment and/or
medication for, or had symptoms of, or asked advice on, or were aware of, during the five years
immediately before your policy started.
If they do not have any treatment, medication or advice for those pre-existing conditions, and any directly
related conditions, for two continuous years after the policy starts, then the conditions may become eligible
for treatment and their exclusion removed from the policy.
It is best to advise your clients to contact the insurer before making a claim so that eligibility can be
confirmed and to ensure that they get the most appropriate treatment.
