MINUTES OF AGM 21ST OCTOBER 2008
Present: Ms Aggarwal, Mr Ahmed, Sian Allen, Mandy Collins, Paul Garbett,
Caroline Griffiths, Emma Hodgkins, Beryl Loughran, Ann McArdle, Carol Murphy,
Liz Pigache, Lynne Powell, Helena Strange, Claire Thacker, Mr Teeling.

Minutes of the last AGM (November 2007) were agreed.
Chair’s Report – Paul handed out a summary of the last year’s activities.
Treasurer’s Report - Mr Ahmed’s report showed that last year we donated a total of
£1, 185.74 to the school departments. That leaves a balance of £924.28 in the bank.
This includes a generous donation that we received from a parent at the Yr 11 open
evening of £200.
We decided to hold a balance of £300, and to donate the following:
The students in year 8 have fundraised an amazing £300 towards a new trampoline
by doing a sponsored silence in school, and in recognition of their achievement we
decided to donate £160 to them.
DT department, again pupils have worked hard to create a Peace Garden, and we are
donating £100 to the purchase of benches.
Well done to the students and staff for both these ventures.
Mrs Brooke Hollidge is setting up a Film Club, which is to be an extra curricular
activity. The day and time are yet to be decided. We decided to donate £60 towards
the purchase of DVD’s. Donations of DVD’s are also welcome. Please look through
your collection and if you have any you would like to donate, please contact
MFL Dept we are donating £51 for the purchase of German and French magazines.
Election of officers:
Thanks go to Paul for the past two years as Chair. Carol was voted in as Chair for the
coming year. Mr Ahmed agreed to stay on as Treasurer and Ann agreed to continue
as Secretary. Caroline was voted in as Vice Chair.
Helena, Mandy, Lynne and Mary were voted in as Committee members.
Samba Evening: Friday 5th December. Joining our Samba band will be two
bands from Oxford plus a dance group. PSA to arrange licence and provide
help with the bar.
Spirit of Christmas: 17 December.
Year group discos: Mr Teeling to liase with staff re dates.
DT Dept – the new laser machine can help the PSA with advertising boards etc,
Table Cloths – we need new tablecloths, Ann to source.
PSA Notice boards. We now have a new notice board which will go up in the
walkway to the rotunda. We will ask the Office assistants to keep it updated.
Fr Raja’s charity : Mr Teeling to take this item to the Charity meeting later this week.
Cowley Road Carnival – this is to be discussed at next meeting.
St Augustine’s money –we are waiting to hear from Nora about the bank account.
Second-hand uniforms – We now have a clothes rail and will have it at each
event for second-hand uniforms.
Remembrance Day – based on an idea from the Cancer Research Relay for Life,
Carol suggested that the school have a Remembrance Evening. We will discuss
this further at a later meeting.
Charity registration – there are many benefits to us becoming a charity and we
will discuss at a later meeting.
